The high score may seem a bit strange at first. But to use an example: I can’t really compare a simple toy to a more complex board game. This is a simple toy — and a very good one at that. I’d primarily recommend it to a younger audience, but playful adults looking to relax won’t be disappointed either. As a shared activity, it works wonderfully.

6 / 10.0 - My Father Lied

It’s obvious that the developers put a great deal of work into the game. On the one hand, Mesopotamian culture and history are presented well and detailed enough to be informative, but not so much that it becomes boring. Those who feel inclined can easily dive deeper into the subject on their own, as I did. On the other hand, the game is packed with puzzles, which in fact make up the bulk of the experience. While efforts were made to keep them varied, their sheer number may be off-putting for some players. The game does have its flaws, most notably in its mechanics, and the visual presentation also leaves something to be desired. The core story mainly serves as a framework and, unfortunately, isn’t particularly strong.

8.5 / 10.0 - Rosewater

It’s a traditional point-and-click adventure handled by skilled hands. Neither too difficult nor too easy, it promises a pleasant and relaxing experience. The core story is somewhat average, but thanks to the way relationships between the characters are portrayed—and the various choices available—it never becomes flat. You’re often faced with moral decisions, which add real depth to the events. The excellent voice acting also greatly enhances the atmosphere. Even among today’s strong lineup, it holds its own, and fans of old-school adventure games who enjoy a lot of reading will certainly appreciate it.
