9 / 10.0 - Frostpunk
May 2, 2018

Frostpunk is a captivating experience, whether you're seeking an emotionally effective story or a solid city-building survival game. Even with all the despair, each decision feels like it matters and had weight.

8 / 10.0 - BattleTech
Apr 24, 2018

BattleTech doesn't just make mechs cool - it turns them into larger than war machines with grand tales of heroism and treachery. It's mechanically sound, dense with story and lore and well realized despite some imperfections.

5 / 10.0 - Extinction
Apr 10, 2018

When Extinction presents its large ogre titans, you get an inkling of what could have been. Instead, randomization and procedural generation rule the core gameplay and feel to really liven up what's a generally below average story, combat and world.

7 / 10.0 - Surviving Mars
Mar 15, 2018

Surviving Mars combines so many interesting mechanics and genres but seems to lack the overall depth that defines more specialized titles. Nevertheless, it's an entertaining romp in exploration, survival and colonization that's good for a couple dozen hours or so.

Like comfort food for the hack and slash enthusiast, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is supported ably by its co-op action. Loot/progression dynamics, the odd few bugs and some repetitive action aside, it does warrant a closer look.

Fear Effect Sedna is vapid and vain, like a B-movie with a bit of gorgeous cinematography. Its gameplay falters miserably and even with the unmistakable atmosphere of the old games, Sedna just isn't enjoyable to sit through.

3 / 10.0 - Past Cure
Feb 22, 2018

So awful yet so boring that one can neither get too mad nor fall asleep, Past Cure is simply a Frankenstein of poorly implemented, cliched ideas and story beats.

7 / 10.0 - Fe
Feb 16, 2018

Fe is dreamy and looks the part but doesn't completely immerse one in its whimsical setting. It's a trip that's fairly painless but doesn't offer much more than a few amazing highlights.

10 / 10.0 - Celeste
Feb 6, 2018

In an industry with so many passionate titles, Celeste stands tall as one of the best. Its vision is flawlessly executed with excellent gameplay and presentation from top to bottom.

4 / 10.0 - Hello Neighbor
Jan 9, 2018

Charming at first but ultimately the victim of lofty ambition, Hello Neighbor is a game that simply can't capitalize off of its interesting premise. Quality-wise, it should have stayed in Early Access for longer until its vision was properly nailed down.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a great primer into the world of Last Man Standing. Those hearing the name “Battle Royale” and expecting a bloodbath of dramatic proportions might want to temper their expectations and try it out first.

Soon to be mentioned in a "not working as intended" faux apology, Destiny 2's Curse of Osiris DLC is just bad. It offers nothing of substance and wastes all of its good ideas while asking you to pay $20. Skip it if you value your sanity, raid lair or no raid lair.

9 / 10.0 - Cuphead
Oct 2, 2017

Cuphead is simply fantastic, mixing a top-notch, visually unique art-style with great gameplay. The challenge might turn some people but the entire experience is definitely recommended for platforming fans.

7 / 10.0 - Destiny 2
Sep 11, 2017

On the one hand, Destiny 2 will feel like old times, an adventure that begins with the words "Be brave" and culminates in epic shenanigans. On the other hand, Destiny's soul doesn't feel any more defined in this sequel and it's prone to many of the pitfalls of the original while introducing some new mistakes. Highly recommended for Destiny fans and new players but those who didn't like the original might want to think twice.

6 / 10.0 - Absolver
Sep 1, 2017

With so many different ideas mixed in with a compelling fighting system, Absolver should be better than it is but comes off as needing a lot more work to become truly great, letalone good.

6 / 10.0 - Observer
Aug 14, 2017

Observer feels like a step down from Layers of Fear. It's intriguing and mind-bending enough for sure with its atmosphere sure to creep out people. But the lead VA, annoying artefacts and some of the horror elements just don't click.

8 / 10.0 - Nidhogg 2
Aug 14, 2017

Nidhogg 2 may not be as beautifully simple as its predecessor and the art-style and new weapons are an acquired taste. However, the combat, crazy pace of matches and sheer aesthetic makes for great fights, either alone or with friends.

7 / 10.0 - LawBreakers
Aug 12, 2017

LawBreakers attempts to reconcile the hero shooter genre with the arena shooter genre and somewhat succeeds. However, for as fun as it can be, it needs more than nifty movement and fast action for the long run.
