At the end of the day, The Last of Us is a two-generation old game already remastered for a new-generation console right after the launch of the PlayStation 4 with better visuals and overall fidelity. Sony, however, decided to take another shot at the game and create a completely new version for the PlayStation 5, introducing the franchise to those who have never played it or are about to watch the HBO series. The reality is that the fans are loyal and will most likely purchase anything related to The Last of Us brand, whether it’s something new or old.
Overall, Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed is a decent remake. It’s nothing too special but nothing too bad either. I would probably say it’s better than an average remake. The biggest win for me here is that they’ve stuck with good performance over better visuals, kept the soul of the original source material, and it plays like the original but with far better visuals and some small gameplay improvements. Voice acting is also solid, and the dialogue is a breath of fresh air. While it does has its cringe here and there, it’s still funny and goofy in its own way.
Dear fans of Saints Row, the reality is that Volition does not care for you anymore, so please stay away from this product, as far as possible, and do not reward lazy and poor quality work. Otherwise, we will keep getting hot garbage like this that fills up your precious Xbox Series X or PS5’s SSD space. There are plenty of games on both Game Pass and PS+ that will give you far better value, gameplay, and, most importantly, entertainment, than this piece of hot boring trash.
Overall, Thymesia is a decent souls-like indie effort compared to some other ones we’ve seen and played in the past. The game won’t rock your socks off, but the combat system and the setting are quite enjoyable. There is also no multiplayer functionality whatsoever, no PvP or co-op.
When this game was announced, and I heard it was free-to-play, I was extremely skeptical. Once I got my hands on the game earlier this week, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this game was. Multiversus feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s exciting to see something new in this genre after so many years of Super Smash Bros. Don’t get me wrong, I love Smash Bros, but there comes a time when you want something brand new in the same space.
Overall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a fun game that accomplishes what it sets out to do. If I am being honest though, the gameplay can get a bit boring if you play it alone. It is best played with a buddy or a group of good friends.
In conclusion, Sniper Elite 5 is a worthy and well-executed cross-gen sequel that offers more of the same that you know and love. If you enjoyed Sniper Elite 4, then you’ll be happy with the new entry. If you’ve never played any of the titles, then you have no excuse not to try it. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, so if you do not want to spend the $60, then you can play it for free, thanks to your Game Pass subscription.
This is going to sound harsh, but when I played this game it felt like someone just used the ARPG pre-built blueprint/template from Unreal Engine 4 and then went to the Unreal Marketplace and bought a bunch of assets instead of creating their own. This is how uninspiring this game felt. If you are trying to sell a product to people that looks like a basic ARPG template straight out of a well-known engine, then I am not sure what the developer was expecting. It comes off lazy and cheap.
Overall, Evil Dead: The Game is a solid attempt at the asymmetrical PVP multiplayer genre that utilizes the movie license extremely well. If you are a fan, you’ll be happy. However, if you are looking for an amazing multiplayer experience, then sadly the game doesn’t quite hit the mark. The repetitive nature of the gameplay loop in every match, whether you are a survivor or a Kardavian demon, hurts my enjoyment of the game.
If you are okay with eurojank taking it to the next level, then Elex II might scratch your itch. Some players have a high tolerance for bad gameplay systems, stiff animations that lack polish, and are okay with just seeing it through to the end. Also, if you are a Piranha Bytes fan, then you might already know what you are getting into.
If you are looking for a fun arcade racer with tight controls and good car handling but do not mind the forced live-action story mode, Grid Legends might be for you. While the game won’t impress your friends with its visuals or audio, it does provide a lot of content, thanks to the career mode, social play, and race creation.
Elden Ring will not only meet the fan’s expectations but surpass them in ways they didn’t expect. I believe that From Software will also obtain new fans as well and show the world what a well-designed open-world game can do. As previously stated, Elden Ring is a game that is begging to be explored and conquered at its full capacity. There is so much content here, and it is so good. The game is atmospheric, gorgeous in its way, full of badass lore, mystery, and secrets.
Across the board, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is not really a bad game. It hits a certain niche and mixes in your typical Musou genre gameplay with strategic political choices. It’s not really a game for everyone and is quite repetitive, but then again the franchise is known for its repetition and has been around forever. It’s completely up to the player if they enjoy this type of rinse and repeat gameplay or not.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is probably the first game of this year that you must play. It just has too good of a narrative to pass by, and it’s always a good time to meet new characters and get presented to a cool world. For those who enjoy titles where the plot is vital such as The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, Uncharted, or God of War, then this game will be right up your alley. Also, if you are looking for Game of Thrones in a video game format, then Dying Light 2: Stay Human is a perfect recipe for that.
If there is another Serious Sam, please try to build around the core mechanic, which has always been shooting monsters in the face with insane weapons. Previous titles such as Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter had fantastic level designs. Every level felt amazing, and it was fun from start to finish. The most recently released games do not feel that way, and please get rid of the strange art style where the game is trying to be more realistic than ever before.
If you have never played Monster Hunter Rise, then the PC version is a perfect excuse to jump in. Despite the game not looking much better than Monster Hunter World or worse rather, it is still a solid game that should not be passed up.
Back 4 Blood has good potential to be something really special and the Left 4 Dead 3 game people wanted. Sadly, however, it is not the Left 4 Dead 3 I wanted due to the fact that Turtle Rock Studios decided to make some good ideas but implement them in rather bizarre design choices and limitations.
In a nutshell, I enjoyed what I played of Diablo II Resurrected so far and it’s a worthy remaster/update to the original classic. As previously said, if you are a big fan of the original game then you will absolutely fall in love with this. If you are looking to get into the Diablo franchise for the first time and are used to more modern-day RPG mechanics and combat then you are better off playing Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
Death Stranding is a game that caught me by surprise, I am far from a Hideo Kojima fan and I was never overly impressed with the Metal Gear Solid franchise, but this game just hits different.
Overall, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a solid and surprising entry in the Alien franchise. The game’s addicting nature, fun combat and gameplay really help it out. The game doesn’t try to be the best in the visual or audio department, but it does have polished game systems that are well thought out and fun to play with. Additionally, It sets a fantastic foundation for future content and seasons. While it’s unfortunate that the matchmaking was broken at launch for Xbox users and the game is lacking full cross-platform support, I still had a great time even when I played solo.
