Robin Hood: Sherwood Builders may have been a bit of a tall order for the development studio, but in the end, it turned out to be an incredibly engaging game. It does have its ups and downs at times, but it delivers just about everything I could want from a game—a beautiful world, friends, adventure, and a living legend. Unfortunately, the sword combat, the constant need to check the hint menu, and the attempts to listen to the sounds of the forest detract from the game. But that’s okay, because Marian always cooks up something delicious.

So how should we ultimately rate Potion Permin? It’s better than average, but it falls a bit short of the top games. That doesn’t matter, though—the beautiful atmosphere, the enjoyable medical activities, and hunting in the woods will keep you entertained long enough for you to get your money’s worth. Unfortunately, doing the same thing over and over again and sometimes having to take care of my patients in ways that seemed pointless at times got on my nerves, but I suppose I was expecting too much from such a simple game.

Project Warlock is a great game that captures the atmosphere of the old Wolfenstein games. I absolutely love how fast-paced, varied, and gory it is—even Carnage would have a blast playing it. The incredibly smooth gameplay is just a bonus. Unfortunately, it lacks a better—or rather, more developed—story, and the difficulty could definitely be a bit more balanced. Other than that, it’s hard to find fault with it, because I haven’t experienced this much entertaining suffering in such a small game in a long time.

Escape Simulator is a huge surprise—what started as an unassuming game has turned into several hours of great fun, whether you’re playing solo or with others. The nearly limitless scope for using your imagination is admirable, and the official levels have their own unique charm. Unfortunately, physics can sometimes play tricks on you, the whole game occasionally crashes, and—most of all—that annoying soundtrack just won’t stop playing. If you’re a fan of escape games, this one’s right up your alley—and I’d say it’ll keep you entertained for a very, very long time.

Nocturnal is divine. The playtime is just under five hours if you go straight through the game. I saw a player online who, with his enthusiasm, breezed through it in two hours. I could point out minor audio glitches, complain about the lack of voice acting, or bring up that controller issue. But the concept of a 2D platformer is absolutely magical, perfect, and—given the visuals—incredibly captivating. If you love these kinds of games, Nocturnal will become a favorite, and I swear you’ll be able to play it over and over again.

Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur is a very pleasant surprise for me. This beautiful 2.5D rogue-lite game has a clearly defined story that unfolds very nicely. The main drawback is having to do the same thing over and over again, and although the developers try to get around this issue in various ways, you eventually hit that wall anyway. In any case, if you like this kind of game, there are dozens of hours of fun to be had, and I guarantee you won’t get bored anytime soon.

Let's School is an incredibly sophisticated building simulator that will captivate every player. It offers endless possibilities for building your own school, managing the moods of students and staff, and taking on a managerial role within the game. Yes, there are a few inconsistencies here and there, and you’ll find the occasional bug, but not even earthquakes and fires could dampen my desire to take good care of the school. Proforovská thus becomes one of the best educational institutions in the world, and I highly recommend you build your own.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is fantastic. Ubisoft is slowly repairing its tarnished reputation, and if we’re lucky, we might see not only a remake of Sands of Time but also another story set in this world. It might not even matter whether it features Sargon or Dastan. You’ll find very accessible gameplay, great voice acting, a compelling story, beautifully designed enemies, and a high-quality combat system. The game boasts so many strengths that the near-impossibility of playing with a keyboard and, unfortunately, occasional progression bugs could even be overlooked.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is a great strategy game with a perfect story. Unfortunately, the game offers absolutely no added value, and if you’ve played something similar before, you won’t feel like playing it again. I’d simply say that the game is a well-made case of déjà vu, with all the trimmings. Personally, I’m disappointed because I expected more for the money. However, if this is your first time playing a game in this genre, you’ll be thrilled and will be looking for something else to play next.

Gangs of Sherwood is a slightly above-average game whose biggest problem is that you don’t really learn anything from the story, but you have to play it anyway. The game isn’t bad—not at all. Is it a disappointment? Yes, it had so much more potential. As I said at the beginning, two months after launch, the developers are working to fine-tune and improve it. In my opinion, they’re succeeding. It’ll never be the kind of title that could shoot to the top of the best games list. But if you want to hang out with three friends, listen to some great one-liners, beat up the Sheriff of Nottingham’s henchmen, and destroy giant cannons, we’ve found the perfect game for you.

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is like when a dog and a cat tried to bake a cake. First, they start making the cake batter, into which they want to add flour, milk, an egg, and sugar, but then they decide to salt it and fry it in lard. In other words, they offer an original story and easy controls, but in the end, they decide it would be too good to be true, so they only do it halfway. It’s the same with the rest of the cake. They want to give you fresh fruit in the form of luxurious graphics that look like they came from Mignola’s pen, but in the end, they decide it’s better to give you four-year-old canned fruit in the form of the most boring battles you can imagine. So far, it’s the best Hellboy game, but being the best of the worst still isn’t worth mentioning.

This Means Warp is an enjoyable space-travel odyssey without a story that will keep you entertained for hours on end. Above all, playing with friends and sharing some adventures against the Isaacs is great fun. Unfortunately, the bosses in the game are completely overpowered, and the moment you lose the vacuum under your ship and are left to fend for yourself, your nerves tend to get the best of you, because you know you’ll have to start all over again.

Pocket Bravery caught my attention with its concept, but its execution put me off. The gorgeous visuals, diverse warriors, and great combos would have been enough for me in a game from twenty years ago. Today, all the ideas the game presents seem downright antiquated to me. They lack any sense of innovation—see Story Mode, which is one big waste of time in this title. Still, it’s an above-average effort considering the sheer volume of games currently being churned out at players like a waterfall.

There are many ways to look at Hammerwatch 2. But none of them will look as nice or as good as the first installment does. The game feels as if it wants to be something it isn’t and become something it can no longer be. As a result, we have a pixel-art RPG with a minigame that needs to be tightened up like loose screws in a cabinet. If the developers can pull this off, the rating will surely rise without a problem. For now, unfortunately, we’re hovering around average.

Zombie Cure Lab is slowly but surely becoming a favorite. Peace, love, the apocalypse, and beaming smiles. It’s almost contagious (how ironic, isn’t it?) how effortlessly building, defending, and mining all work together with the game’s pleasantly colorful graphics. The downside is all the time you actually waste when nothing is happening for a while and you’re just waiting for the moment when you can make progress. Fortunately, there’s always the bonus that the cured ones make for cheap labor.

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is a very mixed live-action movie. The animations are amazing, but I don’t get to play much in them. When I do play, I get lost, and I end up back at a cutscene with a quest, during which I get lost again. For fans of the series, this is practically a must-play; if someone comes across this game for the first time, they’ll hate it, and there’s no point in even playing it. On the other hand, if you love isekai anime, there’s no question about it.

Bang-On Balls: Chronicles is a great, simple, and fun game that offers far more than it might seem at first glance (which is no surprise—you’re controlling a ball). Its sensational, comical premise, simple graphics, fantastic soundtrack, and easy controls are perfect for casual gamers who just want to have fun. Unfortunately, the game’s two-year Early Access period still shows, as it feels unfinished, and the constant craving for new content that doesn’t exist is incredibly demotivating. It has tremendous potential—it just needs to be fully realized.

Super Bomberman R 2 is a nice, laid-back, relaxing game that—especially in story mode—tries to shake off the criticism leveled at the previous installment. In my opinion, not much has changed—the single-player campaign is still boring. What I do have to appreciate, however, is the plethora of other game modes that will keep players entertained for hours on end, with the added bonus of fancy skins. This puts the game right on the fence: it’s fun, but it’s definitely not something I’d go crazy over.

Mixed, yet above average. The Shuyan Saga gives me a bit of a headache when it comes to rating it. A solid story, interesting characters, great storytelling, beautiful visuals, and amazing music are offset by lackluster voice acting and combat sequences that are genuinely poor in places. Fortunately, the game’s positives outweigh the negatives. So Shuyan might just be able to embark on one more adventure—after all, as I mentioned above, this is a Mulan knockoff.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is a solid entry in the Assassin's Creed series that heavily relies on nostalgia. In some ways, it even succeeded. I had a blast with the stealth mechanics and once again felt like I was returning to the classics. But that wasn’t enough. Incomplete optimization, the whiff of Valhalla, and a compromise rather than a return to the original versions—combined with unremarkable graphics—left me disappointed. I also didn’t quite understand Assassin’s Focus. Although there will definitely be more positives than negatives in the end, Basim’s adventure can’t be rated higher than slightly above average—even though this is the most affordable Assassin’s Creed game in years.
