6 / 10.0 - Stray Blade
Oct 11, 2023

Stray Blade is unfulfilled potential. It could easily aim for the highest possible ratings thanks to its music, visuals, and unconventional skill tree. But that’s not enough. The Souls-like elements actually hurt the game, and even though Farren is very likable, his focus on fighting a single monster is incredibly limiting. Especially considering how often you end up fighting. Not to mention the hopeless gameplay design. It doesn’t help that the game doesn’t know exactly what it wants to be and, just like me with Farren, finds itself lost in the woods. As a result, it sinks into mediocrity, from which few will be willing to pull it out.

Deathsmiles I・II is a great game that will keep you entertained for a few hours. These two shooters, both over a decade old, are paired in a way that—even though their graphics clash—actually complement each other beautifully. If I set aside all the loli fanservice, I had an incredible time with this title. I did have to use a controller with my PC for this, but I do that with every other game these days. For fans of simple, blood-soaked shooters, this is a gem that will keep you entertained for a long time.

8 / 10.0 - Moving Out 2
Oct 6, 2023

The first time I cleared the fog, my whole world changed. Moving Out 2 is a pretty funny, stressful, gorgeous-looking, tiring, great-sounding, exhausting game that puts you in one of life’s worst situations: moving. The enthusiasm that radiates from the game is contagious, whether you’re playing solo or with friends. I had a blast, especially with the varied, custom-designed levels—I enjoyed every inch of them, even when I couldn’t see what was around the corners. And the best part? I’ve now completed a truly professional training course for my own move.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tiny Thor
Sep 28, 2023

Tiny Thor is the best platformer I’ve played in a long time. A beautiful story, great boss fights, nice graphics, fantastic music, and that HAMMER! With its style, the game fits right in with the platformers of the 1990s and proudly flies its own flag with that logo. The only thing I have to criticize about the game is that it’s unplayable on a keyboard, but even this problem can be solved with a controller. I recommend Tiny Thor to all passionate fans of these games, and if you’ve been hesitating about this title so far, you definitely won’t make a mistake by buying it.

5.5 / 10.0 - Gord
Sep 22, 2023

Gord could have been better than Frostpunk, but right now it’s barely even “punk.” It’s a base-building survival strategy game with enormous potential, featuring an amazing story, easy controls, and a great soundtrack. But then it gets mixed up with clunky AI, terrible management, a weird ending, and a ton of weird “Gord-ing” (constantly building new forts), and the result is a mishmash I just can’t appreciate. The game is just a little bit short of being amazing, but that little bit went somewhere completely different than it should have, and that’s what I regret about Gord.

8.5 / 10.0 - Blasphemous 2
Sep 15, 2023

Blasphemous 2 is the best 2D game I’ve ever played. It may seem a bit clunky, but that’s exactly what I’d expect from a Souls-like game. Great optimization, smooth gameplay, stunning design, and excellent music are the game’s standout strengths. Unfortunately, those microseconds sometimes really do make a huge difference, the story takes a back seat, and in the end, Blasphemous 2 isn’t really revolutionary in any way. You’ll just be racking your brain and fraying your nerves trying to finally reach enlightenment, and I can say that I experienced it during the end credits.

8 / 10.0 - WW2 Rebuilder
Sep 10, 2023

WW2 Rebuilder surprised me. It’s a laid-back reconstruction simulator where you rebuild devastated countries. The beautiful design combined with simple controls set the bar really high—perhaps too high. The game was unnecessarily let down by a slightly imperfect sandbox version of Poland and music that was a bit too subdued, along with occasional technical issues. Nevertheless, that doesn’t detract from the fact that, in the end, it’s a more than successful game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Inkulinati
Sep 3, 2023

Inkulinati is a very enjoyable game for a leisurely afternoon. It features beautiful illustrations, a fantastic soundtrack, and excellent strategic elements. I’m not sure what the developers plan to add next, since the game is practically finished in early access. The only things that are truly odd are the blocky 2D graphics and the overabundance of roguelike elements. But if you love strategy games, you’ve just found dozens of hours of fun.

6.5 / 10.0 - Atlas Fallen
Aug 14, 2023

Atlas Fallen is fast-paced, runs exactly as it should, has a perfect combat system, and offers a new and interesting world. Unfortunately, the main story is terribly repetitive and more or less lifeless. While there are beautiful views and surfing on the sand is awesome, there really aren’t many options. You can finish the game in under fifteen hours, even if you complete the side quests. The game can entertain anyone who doesn’t want to get bogged down in games that take hundreds of hours but wants a solid two- to three-day gaming session. If the developers decide to expand their world, I’d recommend they really add some color to it—I’ve had enough of yellow teeth from all the sand.

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos is a game full of mixed feelings. On the one hand, I appreciate the developers’ desire to bring something new, great, and well-executed to the table. Ultimately, what stands out most about the game are its peculiar visuals and excellent audio. What hurts the game the most is the lack of a minimap and the pointless crafting and character upgrades, which I still can’t figure out why they’re even there. But if you’re a fan of martial arts and crazy super moves and combos, you’ve found the game for you.

7 / 10.0 - Floodland
Jul 8, 2023

Floodland is a game with enormous potential, and I hope the developers will continue working on it for a while longer. It still contains plenty of bugs that need to be fixed, especially in terms of gameplay. I’m really getting fed up with the constant freezing and slowdowns. On the other hand, it’s a very well-made simulator, and although there are occasional logistical issues with clunky graphics, all the building elements in it make sense. Including that fantastic soundtrack, which is capable of carrying the entire game on its own.

Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is a fantastic game. The Nintendo port is definitely a success, and with its intuitive controls, great music, pleasant graphics, and six playable factions, it has won me over. The only real downside I see is the combat on the hex grid, which is unfortunately let down by the visuals as well. That’s truly a shame, because the variety is perfect, but it’s nothing you can’t get used to.

STORY OF SEASONS: A Wonderful Life is a laid-back game. You play as a farmer whose goal is to take care of your crops, animals, and family. To be honest, though, what I enjoyed most was creating my avatar and choosing my life partner. Taking care of chicks is great, but when you’re doing the same thing over and over again for days on end, it gets exhausting and tedious. Plus, the fact that it looks good doesn’t make up for the clunky controls or the repetitive music loop. As a remake, the game didn’t live up to the expectations set by its predecessor, but it’s satisfying enough for any fan of life simulation games.

Desert Dakar Rally is an exceptional racing game that transports you into a hellish race. Since its release, the developers have been actively working to improve it, striving to meet players’ expectations. It’s a unique endeavor, one of a kind, but it keeps hitting walls that not even a truck could get through. The negligible impact on track design, occasional glitches, and overly sensitive controls don’t help at all—and unfortunately, these are the fundamentals of racing games. It doesn’t matter that the soundtrack is great and the weather affects visibility. Navigating the road map or even using the navigator is top-notch and I really enjoy it, but it just isn’t enough. What’s great, though, is that the game has come a long way since its release and has its own player base, and it definitely deserves your attention and time—even if it takes a lot of it.

9 / 10.0 - Kynseed
Jun 22, 2023

Kynseed is a completely underrated gem that, for some reason, has fallen by the wayside and no one seems eager to bring it back into the spotlight. It features an original story, superb production values, relaxing music, and endless possibilities. It’s an endless game that every player will fall in love with. Sure, it has a few flaws, but that doesn’t stop everyone from wanting to play it.

8.5 / 10.0 - Gnosia
Jun 11, 2023

Gnosia is a huge surprise. I didn’t expect anything from it at first, but I ended up discovering that it’s a fantastic single-player game about identity that I couldn’t get enough of for hours on end. A perfect premise, brilliant interweaving of time loops, incredibly intelligent AI, interesting conversations, and almost real detective work aimed at finding Gnosia will captivate just about anyone. Above all, the opportunity to experience some loops from a different perspective—when the player becomes an “alien”—is thrilling. So if I have to find fault with the game, it’s the repetitive controls and the gameplay involving a ton of text. You can’t read it endlessly without taking breaks, just as you sometimes get bored of constantly clicking the mouse on the same thing, because there’s nothing else to do. But then come the perfect visuals, which magically glue your eyes to the screen.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum definitely shouldn't have seen the light of day in this form, especially at the suggested retail price. Honestly, even if the game cost a tenth of that, it would still be too much. Ugly graphics, clunky controls, and a stupid camera. Aside from the story and the music, I can only recall negative experiences with this game, and I’m really sorry about that. Gollum truly deserved something a little better.

7 / 10.0 - Metal Unit
May 24, 2023

Metal Unit is a game that could have risen with the sun and reaped the rewards. Unfortunately, the game’s absurdly generic story, controls that are unfriendly to keyboard players, and nerve-grating music do more harm than good. However, its strengths remain: great action, weapon combinations, rogue-lite elements, accessible pixel art, and a constant urge to push forward from one mission to the next.

4 / 10.0 - Redfall
May 19, 2023

Redfall is, in a word, a disaster. It takes less than twenty hours to finish, even if you complete every single quest. The price is exorbitant, the technical performance is terrible, the visuals are outdated, the optimization is bizarre, the gameplay is incredibly repetitive, the co-op is half-baked, the bosses are as easy as the game itself, and there’s plenty more I’ve mentioned above. The only real standout features are the skill tree, the good voice acting, and the origin of the vampires. But when I consider that this is a AAA game from a studio that has consistently made great games, it’s just disheartening. Personally, I don’t recommend this game, though I can’t rule out the possibility that they might still be working on it. But who knows—Arkane is already planning its next AAA title.

Spirit Hunters: Infinite Horde is currently in early access, and it’s important to view the game in that light. Compared to Vampire Survivors, it’s definitely not a standout title, and due to its flawed progression system, it probably never will be—unless the developers make some major changes. Fortunately, however, the visuals are appealing and will captivate you. Otherwise, the game unfortunately doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking or mind-blowing just yet.
