Samuel Guglielmo's Reviews
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has a few annoying elements, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's exactly what the series needed for a great comeback.
Broken Toys continues The Walking Dead: The Final Season's interesting story and great character development while serving as a triumphant return for a season thought lost.
Take Us Back wraps up Clementine and AJ's story in a satisfying way, developing both characters and making sure the conclusion is worth sticking around for. Getting to finally put Clementine's story to rest is a doozy.
Ghost Giant's fun puzzles and lovely story are well worth experiencing for anyone who may have access to PSVR.
Heaven's Vault manages to make me look forward to learning a new language, which is something I honestly never thought a game could do.
Observation combines weird sci-fi and cosmic horror with clever adventure gameplay and amazing atmosphere.
Gravity Ghost: Deluxe Edition is a bittersweet game about acceptance, and a relaxing platformer to boot. Also, it has a real good fox.
While Strife may end up playing second fiddle to War in his own debut game, Darksiders Genesis is a surprisingly fun and lengthy top-down co-op action game that both fans and newcomers should enjoy.
AVICII Invector provides a super fun rhythm game set to the amazing beats created by AVICII.
Coffee Talk is an adorable little slice of life game where you can serve coffee and listen to some great stories.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is a fantastic update to one of the best FPS campaigns of all time
Some occasional gameplay and story mishaps, and complicated controls, don't hold back Armored Core VI from being both an absolute blast to play and an extremely welcome return from this long-dormant franchise.
Perhaps most important, for the first time, I actually felt like I understood the Souls genre with The Surge 2. It's the first one that made me actually feel anything other than annoyed and confused and that I wanted to actually stick around to see the end of. It still has issues, and I'd love to see more enemy variety, but I can safely say that I'll be back for whatever Deck 13 has planned next.
While it could have used some better side quests and maybe a bit more graphical polish, Mafia III's narratives is one of my favorites in 2016 so far.
The Bruce Wayne heavy story is going to turn some people off, but this is a rather unique and interesting take on Batman and it features the most gameplay that Telltale has offered yet. A great first episode that has me interested in the rest of the series.
Jotun: Valhalla Edition features some of the most exciting boss fights in gaming mixed with lovely visuals and a decent story. It just needed some trimming of the filler to truly be a classic, but this new mode at least introduces a mode that's just that.
Shu's platforming is well made and intense, leading to a fun game that speed runners and casual platform fans alike can enjoy. It's just a little on the short side.
Batman: The Telltale Series' fourth episode successfully avoids the pitfalls Telltale's penultimate episodes usually have, Guardian of Gotham is another great entry in to what may end up as Telltale's finest hour.
Telling one of the most interesting Batman stories in any medium, Batman: The Telltale Series is a really cool take on Batman with some great fight scenes and fun investigations. It just really needs some technical polish.
Providing a solid story and some interesting puzzles, The Descendant does a good job taking notes from Telltale's adventure games while still bringing its own ideas in.
