Overall, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is a decently fun, if a little basic fighter. By no means will it shock the fighting game world - or contain the depth needed for highly competitive play - but it’s good fun nevertheless, that appeals to newcomers with its simplified battle system. Existing fans of the SNK characters I’m sure will enjoy the team up combinations, but may be disappointed with the lack of customisation options on offer to keep them playing.
The ability the play not only through the main story but also as a different character entirely will please fans of the show. However, Asterisk War: Phoenix Festa is ultimately a very generic affair, riddled with tropes that will do little to draw in new fans to the series and will likely leave most gamers not familiar with its content confused.
Whilst most indie games play upon the strong pixel nostalgia, Daydreamer sucks its ideas from one gaming generation ahead - the early 3D era - but fully reminding us why those games haven’t aged well and should be left in the rear-view mirror.
