LEGO Horizon Adventures is a charming yet simple family game. It is without a doubt the best-looking LEGO game ever made and the world alone is worth the trip. It comes with all the silliness you can expect and a surprisingly fun combat system. Sure, it lacks depth across everything it does but casual players and the younger audience will find this accessible and enjoyable.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership doesn’t disappoint as the first RPG in the series in nearly ten years. It is a charming adventure that fleshes out a wonderful new world to explore. It looks unlike anything we’ve seen from Nintendo with an impressive coat of cel-shaded paint. While the game might feel like a basic RPG in comparison to the modern greats, there’s a lot more to enjoy here.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a gigantic party game with more modes than ever before and finally, a professional board game mode that will become a fan favourite. It outshines all past games in many ways and sets a new bar I don’t think the series will surpass.

Echoes of Wisdom is another timeless adventure in The Legend of Zelda series. Even without Link at the helm, it is still able to deliver engaging gameplay and a charming kingdom that comes with all the usual love you can expect from the series.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 offers a thrilling campaign and an engaging post-game grind mode. However, the limited number of Operations missions and the lack of replay value in the campaign may hinder the game’s long-term appeal. Despite these flaws, the game’s authenticity and exhilarating action make it a must-play for fans of the genre. It is 2024’s much-needed blockbuster

7.5 / 10.0 - Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws offers a refreshing open-world experience with diverse planets and engaging missions. Despite some technical issues and a lacklustre protagonist, the game’s authenticity and the immersive world make it a worthwhile experience for Star Wars fans and newcomers.

Overall, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD makes for a great addition to the Switch library. It might not be the most innovative experience or remaster around but the adventure is one to remember. The game will definitely tide us over while we wait for the inevitable fourth game.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a technical masterpiece and a decent narrative-driven experience. Sure, some characters and story arcs feel underdeveloped but hopefully, there’s more to come. I don’t think Hellblade II will change the industry and I don’t think we’ll be talking about it in five years, but right now, it is likely the most relevant game you can play.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake is wonderfully crafted for modern hardware while still capturing the magic and love of the original 20-year-old game. There’s a reason this is a cult classic and now everyone can enjoy it.

8.5 / 10.0 - Stellar Blade

From its incredible soundtrack to its brilliant world design and combat, Stellar Blade’s debut is a much-needed injection of fun across the PlayStation-exclusive library and likely the most refreshing new game on the platform to date.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU doesn’t reinvent the metroidvania genre and if anything, is quite watered-down. However, its emotional story and refreshing African influence deliver a surprising yet short game that I high recommend you all play at least once.

Rise of the Ronin has an excellent combat system and a somewhat dark narrative but the game's dull world and mediocre quest design take away from the best mechanics on offer here. It all starts to blend together into a mindless sandbox game that offers little excitement.

Princess Peach Showtime is a charming game that is clearly aimed at younger users. The hand-holding gameplay and limited difficulty might prove too boring for even the casual gamer.

9 / 10.0 - Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2 is a vast RPG filled with a rich world to explore and a dense combat system to master. It is marred down by some dated mechanics and performance issues which at least can be improved down the line.

8.5 / 10.0 - Helldivers II
Feb 16, 2024

Helldivers 2 brings the over-the-top action and a little frustration to a never-ending war. It makes for a fun time with friends, is not meant to be played solo and can get quite overwhelming even after unlocking the best Stratagems and gear.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a simple puzzle platformer that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The game is highly accessible and shines thanks to its remade visuals. You won’t find yourself scratching your head at any of the puzzles but the easy-going gameplay is charming and great to play in co-op.

8 / 10.0 - Alan Wake 2
Oct 26, 2023

Alan Wake 2 is a visual and technical showcase that brings some fresh ideas and mechanics to the series. Some evolve into fun activities while others get repetitive. The game is also marred by some awkward live-action sequences that feel out of place. But there's no doubt a captivating horror to enjoy under the surface. It is the strangest game you'll play this year in all the best ways.
