Despite the eleven years on his shoulders, Sonic Colours is confirmed to be among the most interesting adventures of the polygonal "second life" of the hyperkinetic hedgehog. Enjoying it fully is still possible, certainly thanks to its intrinsic qualities - level design, in particular - but also to the commitment lavished by Blind Squirrel in packaging Ultimate: a remastering work of very good level, although perfectible.

Despite the twenty years on monkey shoulders, the first Super Monkey Balls remain puzzle video games of superfine quality, however tough at the limits of sacrilegious swearing. Retrogaming aside, Banana Mania is undoubtedly the best way to experience the rotating gameplay recipe, now also open to welcome any newbies thanks to the introduction of some "assist controls" with optional activation.

If Super Mario Party chose to take the path of timid "next-gen" evolution, Mario Party Superstars takes the opposite, yet complementary, path of amarcord traditionalism. The result is a celebratory episode of fine workmanship, a reasoned selection of some of the most representative tables and minigames of what the franchise has been in its abundant twenty years of existence.

8 / 10.0 - tERRORbane
Apr 14, 2022

It is not at all easy to do justice in written form to a product like tERRORbane, an indie experiment that defining particular is very little. The (pseudo) role-playing adventure of BitNine is a very successful divertissement, sincere and passionate in celebrating, even with sardonic doing, the videogame as a means of communication, its historical past, its grammar, its excesses.

7.8 / 10.0 - Axiom Verge 2
Aug 24, 2021

With his new project Thomas Happ undoubtedly chooses to take the most difficult path, creating a metroidvania that reconnects to Axiom Verge just enough to then proceed in the direction of an essentially different experience, which neglects the quality of the clashes in favor of the journey between dimensions and science fiction scenarios.

7.8 / 10.0 - Little Orpheus
Mar 26, 2022

Those looking for some kind of challenge will not find satisfaction in Little Orpheus, which, however, as at the time of its debut, remains an indie gem to which at least the admirers of narrative platform games, and of "sci-fantasy" stories in particular, should not turn their backs at all.

7.6 / 10.0 - In Between
Jun 6, 2016

In Between is a good compromise between puzzle mechanics and digital storytelling. Its not a perfect product, and its not suitable for any audience, since its difficulty nerve-racking at times could discourage less stubborn players. But its still a heartfelt, challenging and fulfilling game.

Under an aesthetic layer a little too essential and dated, Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition preserves a simulation experience with unexpected qualities, sincerely delicious. A product whose target is very precise, mostly within the circle of school-age players, which hits its goals thanks to its relaxed way of doing, a good variety of the proposed tasks and an attractive use of some of the most appreciated Disney licenses of all time.

7.2 / 10.0 - Gang Beasts
Dec 7, 2021

Among the pros of a hybrid form ideal for local multiplayer and the cons of a network experience with the handbrake pulled, the conversion for Switch of Gang Beasts defends itself just enough to provide the Nintendo audience with the opportunity to recover one of the craziest party brawlers of recent years.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is a fair product. It still shows some quality difference between the various disciplines, and its AI is not well balanced, but it's worth to play it with friends or family, as it can give moments of fun and lightheartedness with its multiplayer mode.

7 / 10.0 - The Falconeer
Nov 7, 2020

It would be ungenerous to deny Tomas Sala's work good basic qualities, such as to ensure this peculiar "bird's eye" combat simulator a certain solidity at least on the technical-artistic front. What emerges after a few hours in the skies of the Ursee, however, is that The Falconeer is a product that shines more in aesthetics than in actual ability to involve the player within the wet world he chooses to tell.

6.8 / 10.0 - Struggling
Aug 29, 2020

Like its repulsive protagonist, Struggling is a two-faced herm. It has a stomach-turning glance, yet irresistible. Alternate questionable design choices with fragments of good entertainment. It is a poison (in single) and a panacea (in pairs). You may hate it, if patience is not your forte; or worship him, if you are a person of spirit. One thing is certain: you have hardly had - and will have - to deal with a video game as absurd as Struggling.
