Guess the Word on the Nintendo Switch has been adapted from the mobile market and even though it presents itself as an educational game, its value as such a work is very limited. Short in content, with only one gaming mode and lacking in the very element it bases itself on, Guess the Word does not fulfill any of its objectives and will feel too limited and too short for everyone, including its target audience.

Aegis Defenders does a lot of things right - the game looks good, it features interesting gameplay mechanics and has a decent plot...but that's not all that makes a memorable game and unfortunately, Aegis Defenders does not manage to organize its positive elements well enough, and its repetitive puzzles and challenges of exaggerated difficulty make this a more difficult game to enjoy which could be much better if it was better structured.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes has to be seen under different lights...and under one of them, this is an irreverent, eccentric, unique and captivating work, as only Suda 51's touch can make it. Under a different light, the game is so much the spawn of its creator's mind that it makes it difficult for outsiders to appreciate, something which the feeling of repetitiveness in combat and its overly simplistic level design does not help with...and yet, Travis Strikes Again is what everyone could ask of its creator.

Ultra Space Battle Brawl has its charms and is not without its fun elements, with a competent gameplay that is set to strike a chord immediately with many players. Unfortunately the experience is also rather limited, and the dearth of game modes and a constant repetition of its themes means that it won't take long until Ultra Space Battle Brawl starts feeling tiresome.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes out on top no matter what angle is used to look at it. A game that improves on nearly every single aspect of the series, it delivers on everything it proposes and on incredible levels, making this the best chapter made so far on this iconic Nintendo work which more than a game series, is a tribute to the world of gaming.

Blossom Tales proposes a wide world to explore, full of content and with enjoyable gameplay, not to mention a marvelous visual style. While the game may be trying to reach a higher status than it can, Blossom Tales certainly provides for a good adventure and exploration experience in the Nintendo Switch and it's yet another welcome addition to its growing catalogue.

Nine Parchments delivers on the combat, visuals and variety front, with plenty of options to choose from and a strong gameplay core that will keep players entertained for several hours. It doesn't quite go all the way when it comes to its plot and level design, though, as it feels somewhat underachieving in these fronts and could certainly benefit from being more unique.

Binaries features a good idea and an interesting concept in a genre that is already heavily represented in the Nintendo Switch catalog. What it does less well is the way it implements its difficulty level, which gets too much protagonism for its own good and can make the gameplay experience more frustrating.

Sonic Forces was supposed to carry the baton from its predecessor but instead it dropped embarrassingly and doesn't know what to do with it anymore. Despite a good technical performance regarding the game's fluidity, Sonic Forces features short, linear and unimaginative levels and has less gameplay mechanics than other 3D Sonic games. To top it all, its controls can be unpredictable and it delivers what is probably the worst soundtrack of all the main Sonic games. Sonic Forces had a simple job to do but it couldn't keep the level set by its predecessor.

Tiny Barbarian DX succeeds at recreating an action platormer experience that's reminiscent of the 8 and 16-bit eras and its very good control system is certainly key at that. It does not live up to its inspirations, however, as its lack of charisma leads to generic and bland levels, despite a good lifespan, and a level of difficulty that is way too high will make it rather inaccessible for many players.

Sine Mora EX brings the shoot'em up genre back and it does a very good job at it, as the game features a very good gameplay, plenty of content and a good level designed, topped with high quality visuals. The only things keeping Sine Mora EX from becoming an instant classic is its somewhat disappointing soundtrack and a lack of variety on the vehicles to choose from.

Ironcast will attract players who are into carefully selecting their elements before stepping into combat. Thanks to its interesting and well implemented mechanics, this is a game that can easily turn into an addictive experience. It should also be noted that Ironcast could use more variety and that its random components can have a disproportionate weight on the game's difficulty.

Puzzle Adventure Blockle features fun puzzles to play with good ideas at heart. It performs less well on implementing its ideas, as the plot feels out of place and the game does not provide enough incentives for the players to continue their experience. Had these elements been more polished, this could be a more memorable game.

Bulb Boy may not boast the largest content ever seen and while it comes across as too linear and its lifespan feels rather short, it also has several interesting redeeming factors, such as its use of light, a successfully crafted horror atmosphere and an overall well implemented presentation.

It was so simple, yet so difficult. Sonic Mania succeeds where others did not: it delivers the gameplay experience of the original games with a format made possible by today's technology and an immense wealth of creativity that when put together make this an exquisite Sonic game, a fitting follow up to the 16-bit originals and one to leave a legacy for the future.
