5 / 10 - Space Pioneer
May 18, 2020

Space Pioneer lands on the Nintendo Switch after its mobile debut and while its simple, intuitive and accessible gameplay are an asset, the game's feeling of repetitiveness and lack of sense of purpose makes it a rather lacklustre effort. Space Pioneer's local multiplayer turns out to be its most valuable component, welcoming players of all kinds without any time barriers.

Dead or School on the Nintendo Switch is more ambitious than it suggests. This RPG with hack and slash elements has a very interesting story line and a combat that is fun and engaging. It does less well when it comes to its technical performance, which is where its limitations stand out the most, but this a work that is certain to appeal to RPG fans.

Car Mechanic Simulator Pocket Edition might seem like a long name but it's also an accurate one. Indeed, the title describes what this game is about and if it features a wide variety of content, it's also less than thrilling to play. Its gameplay is repetitive enough but unfortunately, its control system has been entirely transplanted from the original PC version to the Nintendo Switch, which makes many actions frustrating to perform. Overall, this is an effort that loses out significantly compared to its original.

5 / 10 - Mekabolt
Apr 13, 2020

Mekabolt on the Nintendo Switch is not a life-changing experience but it is a decent and competent platformer that's accessible to younger and to less experienced players. Those looking for a more challenging experience need to set their horizons elsewhere, though, as Mekabolt doesn't stand to its highest graded peers on the Switch but anyone who's looking for a simple platformer will find a few hours of fun in this work.

Bitlogic - A Cyberpunk Arcade Adventure has one precise objective: to deliver a 2D adventure-platformer that pays tribute to the MSX, and it succeeds in this exact, if rather limited, purpose. It doesn't venture much further than that, however, and it quickly becomes apparent that other than MSX nostalgics and enthusiasts, very few players will be swooned by the game's simple concept and short longevity.

7 / 10 - Hoggy 2
Apr 9, 2020

With a balanced learning curve, its short levels are a good match for those moments where players want to enjoy themselves for a few minutes. Its level creator tool is a welcome feature but the lack of a way to share the levels that players create make it a wasted opportunity. In all cases, Hoggy 2 can bring some good, even if short, hours of fun to players looking for something accessible.

3 / 10 - Pet Care
Apr 4, 2020

Pet Care is a game aimed at a very young demographic and as it should, it's very simple and accessible, with use of the touch control system. Unfortunately its experience gets done with very quickly and once the initial premise is finished, the young audience that the game tries to reach will set it aside and look for something else.

Monster Jam Steel Titans on the Nintendo Switch will be welcomed by fans of monster truck racing thanks to its official license and to the rather sharp and enjoyable gameplay. Those who are not into this sport will enjoy the variety of game modes but they will also look beyond that and the game's flaws will stand out more easily: a lacklustre visual detail, glitches and lack of online component. Overall, anyone looking for a good driving simulation will find better offers elsewhere, but those curious about or interested in monster truck racing will no doubt find something to pay attention to.

Street Outlaws: The List brings to the Nintendo Switch a gaming experience based on the Discovery Channel programme of the same name and for that very limited purpose of illustrating the show on a gaming format, it has a certain appeal. Unfortunately it has very little use outside that segment of the audience and with its bland and dull experience and very dated visual environment, Street Outlaws: The List adds nothing relevant to the driving games available on the Nintendo Switch.

AeternoBlade 2 for the Nintendo Switch follows the Metrovania style and adds some RPG elements to a game that features some good ideas. Unfortunately it doesn't take long until the player realizes that those ideas are executed rather poorly and the game lacks a serious polishing work. Furthermore, long loading times, frustrating combat and technical issues only harm the experience further and make this AeternoBlade 2 something hard to recommend.

5 / 10 - AO Tennis 2
Jan 29, 2020

AO Tennis 2 presents itself as a realistic tennis simulation and on the Nintendo Switch, that's enough to stand out and set a high threshold. Unfortunately the overall experience turns out to be a disappointment. Despite a well-executed career mode and a helpful player creation tool, the gameplay in AO Tennis 2 feels disproportionately difficult, while its cast of players doesn't make much sense. Adding to that, its visual environment belongs to a previous time and its performance issues harm the experience even more. Players looking for a sharp and exquisite tennis simulation on the Switch will walk out disappointed.

Override Mecha City Brawl, a long name for a simple game. Featuring combats with colossal machines in urban areas, the game is easy to get into thanks to its accessible controls and features plenty of customization options. Unfortunately it does a less stellar work on the quality of the experience, which often feels too limited and repetitive. The game also feels out of place as a handheld experience and its online space is nearly deserted, consequences of a price tag that is too high for what's on offer.

Sublevel Zero Redux on the Nintendo Switch is a space-based first-person shoot'em-up that features a slick gameplay, a very healthy amount of content and a roguelite approach to its sections. If this will please both fans of the genre and beginners, the game can become repetitive in a rather short time and the use of the map in the exploration will become too frequent.

6 / 10 - Yaga
Nov 29, 2019

While this may be welcomed by players looking for a less intense experience, Yaga doesn't fulfill all its potential due to an exploration that feels too linear and a combat system that remains shallow. Its luck system also needs an improvement and the HD Rumble feature is not properly implemented, which end up harming what the Yaga experience could have been.

The Legend of Skyfish has no issues with presenting itself as an adventure game heavily inspired by some of the most recognizable works in the genre and there's nothing wrong with that. What happens with The Legend of Skyfish is that despite its competent delivery of a simple, accessible gameplay welcoming of new players and which easily fits quick gaming sessions, the game lacks depth, originality and involvement and the overall experience feels like it's rather superficial and doesn't go as far as it could.

Jet Kave Adventure does not revolutionize platform games but that doesn't mean it's not an enjoyable experience. With its well-designed levels, good execution and accessible nature that will be welcoming to all players, Jet Kave Adventure may not pulverize the competition but it certainly does a good job at delivering good gameplay mechanics and at getting the plaforming formula right.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch, something which not long ago seemed nearly impossible is here and it does a top-notch job at adapting this colossal effort into a handheld format. With its gargantuan adventure and multiple branches that the plot takes, The Witcher on the Nintendo Switch might have made some concessions when it comes to the graphical performance but this experience is nothing short of an amazing adventure.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden - Deluxe Edition features a good balance between exploration and strategy and a simple but interesting plot - when all these factores come together, the result is a game that does a very laudable job at keeping the player interested. While a multiplayer mode would be more than welcome, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden - Deluxe Edition has enough qualities to be one of the best of its kind in the Nintendo Switch.

GRID Autosport is the best driving simulator to hit a Nintendo platform over the last decades. Its large amount of content, demanding gameplay and sensations transmitted by the HD Rumble feature all contribute to make this a very interesting work, which went to great lengths to fit into the Nintendo Switch, to the point of allowing the player to choose between a better visual environment or a better game performance. A very welcome entry in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

6 / 10 - Boreal Blade
Oct 9, 2019

Boreal Blade consists of a multiplayer-only melee fighting experience which can be enjoyed both online and on a local level. If the game is overall quite simple when it comes to the moves and visual environment, the combat system is quite fun and engaging and the game features plenty of customization options. The experience could be more enjoyable if the connection to its servers was easier and its community was larger.
