Ginger: Beyond the Crystal tries to revisit the golden age of Rare-style 3D platforming but instead falls a bit short of the mark due to a lack of depth and engagement.
There's enough on display here that, if you were a big fan of Kirby's Epic Yarn, you could get at least get a couple more hours of entertainment out of it. However, assuming you're not a big fan, than I would suggest waiting for something with a bit more substance to come out, which should be around Metroid Prime 4's release.
Riot: Civil Unrest has the look and feel a good RTS with entertaining yet challenging gameplay sections, but it all feels a bit weird when considering a) these sections are based on real events, and b) that the gameplay is fun and entertaining, but really only when you play as the protesters.
If you like watching B-movie's with friends, but would rather play them instead, then yes, Earth Defense Force 5 is the game for you. If you just want to blow shit up, then there are more entertaining games out there.
Earth Atlantis takes the world its built and makes us appreciate it for every detail. Despite some gameplay issues, this title does the best it can to provide players with a memorable experience.
While WWE 2K18 does hit enough right notes for a recommendation, it still leaves something to be desired. As much as I like the style of these newer games, I miss being able to be as nonsensical as the older ones would allow. All in all, it's a toss-up for me.
Ruiner is a competent top down sci-fi shooter that boasts an emphasis on difficultly, but a lacking in story. The gameplay sells it, for sure, just don't be shocked when the plot doesn't draw you in.
Scar of the Doll has several moments throughout that really make you want to keep playing. Whether or not you actually do, however, well be a test of patience.
Overcooked! 2: Surf N' Turf is an expansion that does a solid job in most areas. That being said, don't expect the same level of effort in terms of story or cooperative gameplay, as the end result may leave you wanting something more.
Vesta is a wonderfully crafted experience that falls just sort of the upper tier as a result of it's ending. There's a lot of fun to be had here, just don't expect the best payoff.
Nobunaga's Ambition is a turn-based strategy sim that does it's best to impress. Although it may not be my cup of tea, it will currently come as a welcome entry to fans of the genre.
To sum up, Zenith is a game that everyone should give a go. It's charming, funny and just well made in general. Don't let the classic RPG setting fool you, Zenith is one for the books.
Although Dreamfall Chapters fills in the checklist for an adventure story game, it still leaves some room for improvement. The game is good overall, but just don't expect it to be a dream come true.
If you can look past the little annoyances like grinding and the frame rate, then Warrior Orochi 4, coupled with fun gameplay and pretty looking environments, makes for a rather welcome instalment into the franchise.
Akiba's Beat is a music based combat game that rarely misses a note. When it does miss, however, it loses its beat.
Tekken 7 does just enough right for it to be considered a success. However, hopefully the structure of the game won't be the basic formula going forward.
Mekazoo brings the 2.5D platformer to life as you battle bosses and traverse terrain in a beautifully crafted experience that'll be sure to have you wanting more.
Is Overcooked 2! worth the purchase? I would say it is, for sure. The story and writing may be a bit over-the-top and punny for my liking, but there are certainly people out there that will have some fun with it. So whether you're a cook for the ages or a master of the macaroni and cheese, Overcooked 2! is certainly worth picking up.
Despite the obvious cash-grab ‘Firestorm' mode and the inevitable day one glitches that'll need to be patched out, Battlefield V does a wonderful job at making a game players won't soon forget (at least until the next one comes out). With interesting modes like ‘Grand Operations', ‘Frontlines', and the always classic ‘Conquest', coupled with the heartfelt campaign's the game as to offer, Battlefield V is definitely worth checking out.
Super Mega Baseball 2 brings out the best in what baseball games have to offer. An over-the-top, fun sports title that focuses on entertaining rather than realism, this is one is definitely worth checking out.
