Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is a delightfully chaotic and entertaining football game where violent tackles are as important as neat passes. Unfortunately, the lack of content like a wet blanket overlies the fun, so football-hungry friends or enough pep to forgive the limited online mode is a must.

With the fifth installment of the series, Sniper Elite manages to hit the spot. Almost in all cases. For those who are looking, or playing Rambo, there are a few too many flaws to be found. But play calmly and carefully and you'll be rewarded with impressive levels that offer great opportunities to tackle each mission in vastly different ways. This is the opposite of all overly action-packed shooters, and it's exactly what we've been craving.

The Nintendo Switch Sport is the Switch's answer to Wii Sports, the phenomenon that astounded an entire world over 15 years ago. With simple controls and mini-games built for multiple players, it's a high-level family party. For a while anyway, then comes the lack of content and gameplay depth and gives pyspunka to the fun.

Although Milestone has cobbled together three similar games in a short period of time, there's no doubt that MotoGP 22 is the unchallenged number one. The game shines both on and off the track, especially the deep career mode and the successful story part based on the 2009 MotoGP season. Hesitant computer opponents, some lack of variety and dreary soundstage lower the experience a bit, but in the end the glorious driving feel wins.

Monster Energy Supercross 5 takes career mode a couple of steps further than MXGP 2021. Most of the setup is similar, but between the races in the energy drink game, it is possible to take on different challenges to, for example, collect points for a simple upgrade tree. It's anything but advanced, but provides a welcome scoop of variety and a dash of depth.

The two sister games MXGP 2021 and Monster Energy Supercross 5 sadly do not have a game mode of the same caliber; It finds the most immersive gaming experience in career mode. Here, as usual, a driver should be created, stables selected and races run. Drive well and get offers from better stables, drive and get fired. Simple but decent fun.

With Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the pink hero makes his debut in a real 3D world. Still, everything feels oddly familiar — for better or worse. Imaginative gameplay and colorful graphics are combined with a low difficulty level and a set-up that relies heavily on secrecy. But when the negative parts weigh so lightly, it's not hard to enjoy one of the best platformers since Super Mario Odyssey.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is a strange but exciting adventure that blends action, horror and Japanese traditions. Exploring a deserted Tokyo is just the right amount of intimidating, while the battles against twisted demons are both intense and decently original. Some repetitive moments, petty control and a limping story lower the experience a couple of notches, but in the end the positive parts weigh most heavily.

With the best parts from Gran Turismo Sport and a comeback for the classic Gran Turismo fighting shark, the seventh part of the Gran Turismo series promises plenty. Add to that new game modes, even better control and magical lighting effects. Although the realistic surroundings and a couple of small competitions can make it tedious on the track sometimes, Gran Turismo 7 is the most complete and elaborate car game until then.

That Horizon: Forbidden West takes the best parts from the acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn and makes them even better was expected. Somewhat more unexpectedly, even the weaker links of one are greatly improved, which together with new elements and sources of inspiration leads to an excellent adventure that makes both the predecessor and most other games in the genre fade.

Although most Pokémon games are of good class, there's no denying that they've lost some magic since the show's heyday. But with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, developer Game Freak shows they can still create fresh and entertaining gameplay that lifts Pokémon chasing to a new level. It's a shame that action, environments, and graphics aren't anywhere near the same class.

Just in time for the holiday shopping season comes a smurf platformer that's much better than it should be. The relatively low budget is certainly noticeable in most things, but the most important parts shine. With charming graphics and as entertaining as it is challenging platforming, it's a colourful adventure that's perfect for the whole family.

What we don't get are colorful main characters or an act that grabs us from the start. But if a challenging combat system and a darkly exciting world are more important than tough teenagers to save the world, then Shin Megami Tensei V is the game for you.

Riders Republic is a game with a glued-on attitude, alarmingly many sports and an overplottered world map. Even so, the game surprises great with great control, varied challenges and a world bursting with fun activities. The fact that we are also not spoilt for purpose with well-made ski, snowboarding and cycling games does not exactly make it worse that we get everything in one here.

Call of Duty: Vanguard feels in many ways like a throwback to older Call of Duty titles. There is nothing wrong with stripped-down restarts, but in this case it feels more like time constraints have been the main reason for the simplifications. The single player campaign has few memorable moments, while zombie mode lacks a lot of content at launch. At least the online part offers plenty of content and chaotic, easily accessible high-tempo clearing – but it's not very new under the sun.

It's limited, but oh so entertaining. It's a bit sad that the focus on action takes some horror, but at the same time we appreciate that the story and the environments are very different from the previous titles of the anthology.

With NHL 22, EA's long-running team finally gets a brand new game engine, providing better physics, graphics, and animations. As usual, we also get a variety of game modes that make most people happy, whether it's realism or party games that attract. What we do not get, however, is a sufficiently refreshed sense of play. The improved physics helps, but does not shake off all the old flaws. That said, NHL 22 is an excellent hockey game, although several long-standing problems still exist.

Far Cry 6 begins with a strong sequence that is hard to shake off. In the course of the adventure, we get plenty of similar scenes, but also the exact opposite – and everything in between. It creates an incredibly fragmented experience that is difficult to live in properly. But it's actually not quite as bad as it sounds because we are constantly inundated with entertaining, challenging and not least varied chores. Instead, it's mainly unusually many bugs and flawed artificial intelligence that sink Ubisoft's action adventures a notch.

Despite over 20 years on the neck, Diablo II is a regular classic whose gameplay continues to this day. However, this does not make the graphics, which makes it fitting that this restoration lovingly repaints the exterior but leaves most of the inside intact. However, some parts would have been fine with a modernization, and the forced online requirement of unstable services can create great frustration.

Toy cars, delightfully crunchy tracks and high speeds are what await in Hot Wheels Unleashed. Although the variety is different in terms of both race types and the feeling in the vehicles, there is nothing to stop the race from being terribly fun. In its best moments, Hot Wheels Unleashed can even measure up to timeless classics like Ridge Racer 7, Micro Machines V3 and F-Zero GX.
