In Zeiten von 08/15-Open-Worlds, symbol-überladenen Minikarten und Collectible-Wahnsinn setzt Breath of the Wild einen markanten Kontrapunkt und trifft mit seinem Gefühl von Freiheit und Entdeckerdrang einen ganz besonderen Nerv: Dieses Zelda ist ein episches und märchenhaftes Abenteuer, über das in Jahren noch gesprochen werden wird.

Im Multiplayer gewohnt gut, in der Kampagne grandios: Titanfall 2 zeigt, wie viel Spaß ein Shooter machen kann, wenn man das eigentliche <em>Spiel</em> anstelle der Zerstörung in den Vordergrund stellt, und begeistert mit einem optimalen Pacing.

Caramba! Guacamelee! 2 takes everything that was good in the first part and makes it nicer, bigger and louder - as a bonus on-top there is a local co-op mode for four players. A must for all Metroidvania fans with PS4 or PC!

The Toad and Toadette adventure has made the leap to the Nintendo Switch, but is more suitable for handheld than TV mode. Apart from that, the actual treasure hunt in over 70 levels remains irresistibly cuddly and entertaining - and hopefully forms the basis for a real second part.

Cuphead is not only a charming love letter to Cartoons from the 30s, but also an exciting boss rush marathon that is sure to get your heart pumping without ever getting into territory of "too hard" or "unfair". Even if there might be a lack of content and variation over time, it was never enough to hinder the sheer amount of fun I had in fighting all these giants dragons, robots, sunflowers and vegetables.

Nioh nimmt die Souls-Formel, transportiert sie nach Japan, reichert sie mit Ninja Gaiden und Diablo an und baut einen technischen Rahmen drumherum, auf den andere Entwickler neidisch sein können. Wegen der fehlenden Vielfalt im Gegnerdesign reicht es zwar noch nicht zur Extraklasse - aber das Fundament steht, auf dem jetzt gebaut werden muss.

Prey is dark and grim, it asks interesting questions and with its open-end game and level design it kept me hooked over more than 20 hours where I just couldn't get enough of exploring its world and experimenting with the systems - until it loses some spark over the last third. The road to the end credits is well worth it though as Prey ends in a great finale that I won't forget anytime soon. Prey ended up a very special game to me, and I hope Arkane will get the chance to work on more games like it.

Bigger, prettier and expanded in almost every regard, Divinity: Original Sin II is a captivating and addicting RPG epic and a worthy successor that's almost unmatched in freedom of choice and character progression, only ever-so-slightly inhibited by a badly balanced last quarter and a lack of boss fights and iconic music.
