Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may not represent the pinnacle of the series or the start of a new era, but it firmly halts the franchise's steady decline, delivering a quality entry-arguably the best in the past decade. The campaign is surprisingly engaging and varied, though not quite on par with the series' top classics, and the same holds true for the zombie mode. With more focus on innovation and map quality in multiplayer, the game could have reached even higher scores, but there's room for improvement with post-launch updates. Overall, it's an unexpected return to form.

All in all, Sonic x Shadow Generations has definitely exceeded our expectations. The second adventure dedicated to Shadow, which initially seemed like just a DLC, turns out to be something much more substantial, both in terms of length and concept, combining the best of the boost era with ideas taken from Sonic's new direction. While the game lacks the surprise factor it had in 2011, we're still talking about a new 3D Sonic chapter that's incredibly fun to play. Which is no small feat, as the history of this character has shown us.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection finally allows Western players to have access to the entire Ace Attorney saga, including Ace Attorney Investigations 2, the last spin-off to have remained unreleased in our parts so far, at least through official channels. And it's really a great thing, because it's one of the best chapters of the entire series in terms of writing.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions didn't completely win us over. On one hand, it's simple and fun to play, but on the other, this same accessibility proves to be a double-edged sword, as boredom sets in rather quickly. It doesn't help that the game launches with limited content, which makes it even easier to get tired of Quidditch matches sooner than expected. As with all online games, much will depend on how the publisher manages it in the coming months: we'll see if they allow Unbroken Studios to keep working on and improving the game as planned.

WWE 2K24 continues to improve on the formula introduced two years ago, and the improvements presented overall in the package are more impactful than those presented between 2022 and 2023, making this title (at least until next year) Visual Concepts' best take on WWE wrestling.

In short, net of reversals made by future updates, the dawn of "quadruple A" stocks does not seem to be all that promising.

Another Code: Recollection is a smart and well-made revival for the beloved series that be believed was long forgotten by Nintendo: we are happy to know that it wasn't and that new players and long-time fans alike can now enjoy these two games on their Nintendo Switch.

Little Goody Two Shoes was a pleasant surprise. Drawing inspiration from a well-known fairy tale, the game weaves an intriguing narrative that seamlessly blends various storytelling genres, aesthetics, and gameplay elements. The developers transition from an idyllic and fairy-tale atmosphere to grotesque nightmares effortlessly, and the entire experience is presented in an engaging way, even in the game mechanics. While there are aspects that could have been improved, and the overall story is enjoyable but not particularly memorable, it leaves us eagerly anticipating new projects from the AstralShift team.

Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal still stands as an excellent chapter in Agent 47's saga, taking us back to the heart of the '00s with more compact levels, though not entirely sacrificing the freedom offered to the player. The game has aged better than we might have expected, at least in terms of gameplay, and the mobile conversion work has proven to be quite good overall. Nevertheless, we hesitate to call this version the best way to do justice to the game, as it still remains more enjoyable in its console releases, of course.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures is the classic tie-in crafted without much effort, but doing the bare minimum to realise an adventure capable of eliciting just a smile from franchise fans and those who will play it together. And that's a real shame, as the IP would be a perfect fit for a more ambitious video game.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle it's a real surprise. It's a rhythm game that cleverly plays with the genre's rules, crafting a bizarre yet irresistible experience, especially enjoyable when shared with others. Of course, it still remains a rhythm game, and its quirks will likely make it appealing to a niche audience; however, once you overcome this initial hurdle, it's probably one of the best co-op experiences of the year.

Crymachina does not represent the triumphant return that many had hoped for for FuRyu Corporation. The game has a story that, while potentially interesting, feels like it's wasting its potential, in part due to an overly stereotypical cast of characters, which could fit well in a teen drama.

Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express is a good adventure and a faithful adaptation of the timeless classic of mystery, but it settles for just that. On the narrative front, despite some deviations from the original story, there are no standout twists that make this adaptation better than the many others offered in the past; as for the gameplay, the game does what is expected from a graphic adventure, without going above and beyond. This is not necessarily a flaw, but from an adaptation of a mystery masterpiece of this caliber, one might have expected something more.

Cocoon is a beautiful puzzle-adventure game that excels in creating a captivating atmosphere. Playing as the tiny insect protagonist on this adventure and guiding it through interconnected worlds provides an incredibly satisfying experience, setting it apart from the creator's previous works. It may not redefine the genre, but it's a title worth trying out for any gamer.

Detective Pikachu: The Return is a definite step forward from the first installment, but it still lacks that quality leap that could make this subseries a must for franchise fans. The main charm of the adventure lies in the charisma of its two protagonists and the opportunity to experience the Pokémon world in a different way compared to what the main series offers. However, the game's extreme simplicity, driven by the choice to make it accessible to a wide audience, may not satisfy all fans of the saga.

Payday 3 does what every sequel aims to do: it improves on its predecessor in every respect. We have a qualitative leap on a technical level, an improvement of the basic gameplay, more layered and exciting missions. Right from the start it is clear why the player should abandon Payday 2 to move on to this third episode. On the other hand, however, at launch we are experiencing numerous bugs and glitches, which while not deeply affecting the experience give the idea of a title that would have benefited from a few more months of development and which lacks a good dose of refinements.
