A or higher - Overwhelm
May 13, 2019

Overwhelm is a delight to play. With its engaging evolution mechanic making the boss fights more challenging the closer you get to the end. It’s a perfect example of atmosphere, with its frightening sci-fi 8-bit visuals and refreshing color palette. The dread the character feels is translated perfectly into the gameplay. Overwhelm is great, and with its evolution to the switch, it’s found a wonderful home to showcase its roguelike gameplay.

Titan Quest is fun for a few hours with a friend, but after that there is no reason to return to the field of battle.

A or higher - Semblance

Gameplay is king and it shows in this title. The game oozes fun and lightheartedness, but beneath that is a powerful story told through some of the best environmental storytelling I've seen since Gone Home or RiME. Semblance was made by a group of students as their final university project. But in my opinion, it should be taught to design classes for its expert execution. Semblance is a masterpiece.

This game is one of the most frustrating gaming experience in recent memory. It’s painfully mediocre across the board. The skeleton is all there for an at least fun game, but it just doesn’t seem to come together. Tennis World Tour is a double fault when it comes to a fun tennis game.

Oh My Godheads falls on its abnormally large face when it comes to being a complete packaged game. The game is lacking in single player features and content to keep you coming back for more. Though get a few buddies together and you could be in for a fun night of cough co-op gaming.

Kings and Heroes is an extremely generic MMO, with an extremely fun loot hook. Exploring dungeons is tons of fun with buddies.

Battle Chasers: Night War has tons for players to experience. The game has a complex and strategic battle system with beautiful comic book art, with its only downfall being a cliché story. Battle Chasers is a rewarding and fun romp through a usually stale turn-based RPG genre. Every time I quit the game I would spend time just daydreaming about what lay in the next dungeon. Battle Chasers will definitely be in my Game of the Year considerations.

RiME is a extraordinary game with smooth platforming, amazing graphics, and one of the most heart wrenching stories in gaming.

The Sexy Brutale is bad. If monotony is thrilling to you, then buy this game. I give them credit for trying something knew, but am disappointed how it turned out. The beautiful environments loose their "wow" factor the 10th time you have to go through them.

Sadly this is another title from GameStop’s GameTrust publishing arm that has been subpar. I am saddened that another developer’s passion project turns into a bad gameplay experience for players.
