Despite the star authors, Where The Water Tastes Like Wine runs the risk of being overlooked by the general public. Game is very specific in form and deep in content, almost devoid of gameplay in the usual sense. A collection of stories, dipping into folklore and exploring basic American archetypes under the guise of a video game.

Gorogoa is a rare example of a game that's unique in form and interesting in content. It's a short (just a couple of hours) game, but with very rich and touching story, really interesting puzzles, and stunning visuals.

Far From Noise is a haiku of the video games' world. Minimal amount of expressive means is compensated by the most careful elaboration of each of them. Every

Amazing continuation of the legendary series, to which it makes no sense to apply the standards of the old Wolfenstein. MachineGames set new standards for linear story-driven shooters. It is another matter who needs these standards today, what with all the sandbox-openworld-multiplayer-games-as-service thing going on. The success of The New Colossus will partly determine the fate of the genre.

Tacoma is a game of hope. Fullbright showed that they are able not only to look into the past with nostalgia, but also instill optimism in our future. Well, this is a rarity in our time, what with all the disturbing news and bad premonitions. Here, space is also a premonition, but a rather bright one.

Pyre is one of the most innovative games of our time, combining seemingly incongruous elements: visual novel and fast-paced team sport. This combination, of course, will not work for everyone, but even if these ingredients caused indigestion, you will still fall in love with story. A story which brings out the feeling of sweet sadness, like when you finish a wonderful book, and leave your new friends behind. A story where victories can be bitter, and defeats can be bright. A story that can be told each time in a new way.

The project, deeply reminiscent of INSIDE, unexpectedly gets to a certain extent and the promise of the 1979 Revolution: Black Friday - in a grotesque manner. And from a slightly awkward, but not so bad clone turns... well, let not in a beautiful swan with a strong personality, but the project with its own voice.

Black The Fall experienced a heart transplant, but survived. Deprived of gothic charm, game became history of liberation struggle against the totalitarian regime. No hidden meanings and vague allegories: this is a walk through dystopia, which aimed at reminding the player about Romanian way through the 20th century (according to the developers). The project, deeply reminiscent of INSIDE, unexpectedly gets to the promise of 1979 Revolution: Black Friday — to a certain extent, and in a grotesque manner. A short and charming adventure. A lifetime journey through regrets. Two points of view on the same story, and each of them has every right to exist. One of the most beautiful games of the year is paradoxical. On the one hand, it is notably lacking in detail and depth — at least give us the names of the characters. On the other hand, it is a perfectly coherent statement, all details of which perfectly complement each other.

Blackwood Crossing is a simple but touching story about important things that games still rarely tell about. This little adventure is all about loss and its adoption. There's charming music and characters, but the most important thing in such stories is quality of writing. And here Blackwood Crossing, unfortunately, does not shine. Game talks with a complicated, and at the same time overly simple language. For any fan of deep and arty games it can still become a pleasant gift, but it can also leave a feeling of slight dissatisfaction.

Incredibly difficult but nicely drawn, atmospheric and surprisingly deep platformer about long and rough journey of one small slugcat. Rain World don't really have enough mercy, the game doesn't forgive the slightest weakness or inattention, and it's rules can remain misunderstood for a very long time. To go through it, you need an iron will, perseverance and aspiration. If you've got what it takes, it could be a lot of fun.
