If you’re a fan of horror/action films you’ll have a good time playing through the various films to find your favourite character and kill scene paying homage to that magic film scene. Slayaway Camp is a game you’ll want to play if you fancy a change of pace from constant on the go action as it pays to take your time and plan your every move.
If you don’t mind a high difficulty level and putting the time to master parrying then Cuphead is a game that you are going to thoroughly enjoy, from the artwork, music and sense of relief when you finally get shot of that boss that’s been giving you hassle for days.
The Coma: Recut is a must for horror fans that don’t mind a bit of difficulty in their 2-D side scrollers.
Songbringer is an enjoyable game that nails the Zelda dungeon-crawling aspect while still managing to bring something new to the table with the procedural seed runs, permadeath mode and a cast of unique and amusing characters.
Overall, if you are a fan of games like Limbo and Inside, then the chances are you’ll enjoy Black The Fall thanks to the similar mechanics and puzzles. Just don’t expect anything new or different being brought to the table. If you’re a newcomer to the genre however, be prepared for a lot of trial and error and potentially some frustrated hair pulling or broken controllers if you’re prone to a bit of rage quitting.
Overall, Toby: The Secret Mine is a good game, even if it does feel like a shorter version of Limbo. It’s a charming puzzle platformer that I enjoyed putting a few hours into and what little story there was does give you the opportunity to let your imagination go and make up your own backstory for the characters and situations. If that’s the kind of thing you don’t mind doing. The thing that stops Toby: The Secret Mine from being a great game is the numerous similarities to Limbo as well as the lack of guidance around puzzles.
If you’re looking for a game with a strong story, accompanied by stunning visuals and engrossing soundtrack, I would recommend picking it up so long as you’re not looking for a new adventure puzzle experience. If you have played games like The Last Guardian and Journey and just weren’t feeling it, then this would probably be one to avoid as you won’t find anything different.
If you’re a fan of Tetris, then Chime Sharp is definitely the game for you. The music, as well as having an aim to each mode, will be an added bonus.
Overall Semispheres is not a bad game, it’s a genuinely fun puzzle game that will test your reflexes, timing as well how quickly you can solve a problem. It's unfortunate that it's let down by it’s extremely short length, inability to increase the difficulty or offer anything new on additional playthroughs.
The Flame in the Flood is a fantastic survival game with an equally fantastic score and art style that will challenge your decision making and patience to within an inch of its life - in a good way. There is plenty of replay value to be had as you won't find everything there is to uncover in the first few playthroughs.
If you're looking for an easy going simulation of what it is to be a farmer, or even if you're looking for a more immersive version of Farmville, then you'll definitely get a kick out of Farming Simulator 17. If you're not a fan of watching root veg slowly pop out of the ground, then you won't enjoy this unfortunately.
If you’re into anime games as well as interactive novels, you’ll really get a kick out of Tokyo Twlight. If you’re looking for an action packed RPG, you’ll be sorely disappointed as there’s not much to do outside of the battles - which aren’t in your traditional RPG style.
If you're a fan of fast paced puzzle games then Castles is the game for you, but I wouldn't buy it if you're expecting a lengthy playtime.
If you’re a puzzle fan this game will be right up your street. If you like fantasy/fairytale games & stories you should definitely consider giving this a go. If, like me, you’re a fan of both then you’ll have double the fun if you decide this is a game you can’t go without playing any longer.
Overall, Mystery Castle an OK puzzler and if you're really into puzzle games, and I mean really into them, I think you'd get a kick out of it as it will keep you busy for a decent amount of time. If you've only got anything less than an invested interest in puzzlers I can't see you enjoying it much.
Overall, Level 22 is worth picking up if you need to let out some office related aggression, especially if you’re not likely to get away with sticking laxatives in the office doughnuts. The puzzles to escape each floor are pretty fun and not overly taxing on the old grey matter, but don’t expect to spend more than an afternoon on it.
Overall, Enter the Gungeon has plenty to keep you busy, whether it's collecting everything and filling up the "Ammonomicon" or just attempting to finish it with each of the characters.
