6.8 / 10.0 - Radio Commander
Oct 18, 2019

Refreshing idea: you are asked to take control over your troops, but you have no direct control; developers want you to feel in the middle of the action, but they remove you from it. Brilliant on paper, but players remain prisoners of the limitation the game designers set for themselves, leaving us with shallow combat and unnecessarily too little feedback from what's going on in the battlefield.

9.3 / 10.0 - Control
Aug 26, 2019

Remedy outdid itself by creating an impeccable narrative experience so intimately interconnected with a bewitching setting, raising the bar for anyone who wants to break into the action adventure genre.

7 / 10.0 - SolSeraph
Jul 9, 2019

Finally someone who doesn't use pixel art for their nostalgia project! Unfortunately though, SolSeraph is too easy for hardcore players and its tower defence sections are sub-par in their genre. Good boss fights might have saved it, but no luck there.

7.8 / 10.0 - They Are Billions
Jul 2, 2019

Sometimes less is more, but other times it's just plain less. The streamlined city-builder mechanics keep the player focused on the zombie menace, but the few military units and lack of strategic combat make They Are Billions ripetitive. Ah, the game is also tough as nails.

6.4 / 10.0 - Mini-Mech Mayhem
Jun 28, 2019

Mini-Mech Mayhem takes an interesting basic idea and develops it into nothing, resulting in a shallow experience with very limited content. The mini-robots are the cutest, though.

Crimson Curse builds on Gwent's tense gameplay introducing strong and quintessential easy-to-learn-difficult-to-master new abilities, even though the studio will also need to keep an eye on faction usage for balancing.

7.5 / 10.0 - Tropico 6
Mar 29, 2019

Witty political satire? Check. Lovely latin music soundtrack? Check. Solid city builder gameplay? Check. Is this Tropico 6? Tropico 5? Tropico 4? Loyal Penultimo would struggle to spot the difference, and players might decide at some point to ditch El Presidente for a new one bringing some fresh air... if only there was one in sight.

A light and entertaining alternative to heavy-weight shooters like Raw Data and In Death, The Wizards gives the player great satisfaction in creating spells with their own hands, and that's simply amazing.

Gathering Storm succeeds in the difficult task of refreshing Civ VI experience while keeping its spirit intact. The enviromentalist theme is pretty spot on and the renewed diplomatic options will make it the ideal expansion for those who don't measure their success in terms of the length of their artillery.

In this chapter of Ace Combat, the gameplay is stripped down to a bare minimum and the air-to-ground combat is plain boring. The jaw-dropping graphics and production values will probably be enough to attract the fans of the franchise, but if arcade air fighting is not your niche, you'd better steer away.

6.6 / 10.0 - Borderlands 2 VR
Dec 23, 2018

This porting fails to address many aspects that required VR-focused re-work. In additions, content cuts like the absence of co-op mode essentially make this version of Borderlands 2 sub-par to the original game.

8.6 / 10.0 - Tetris Effect
Nov 20, 2018

Not only do we have a new Tetris, but finally we find a version of this eternal classic with a single player campaign, whose narrative is entirely entrusted to the audio-visual mix that combines perfectly to create moments in which the multi-sensorial experience elaborated by our brain joins the logical work necessary to complete the levels. The only real flaw of Tetris Effect is the absence of multiplayer.

8.2 / 10.0 - GRIP: Combat Racing
Nov 2, 2018

The spirit of Rollcage lives back in Grip: Combat Racing, where you speed your way up upside down until victory. The Rivals system is genious, but Caged Element didn't fully explore its potential. Beautiful tracks and a tense campaign are definitely highlights of this game.

First-party developer Japan Studio shows competence in the use of virtual reality, and even more in the way it takes the DualShock controller at the front of the action. The protagonists, Sony's Bots, are as cute as they come, and the general look and feel make Astro Bot a joy to play. On the otherside, the game does barely offer any kind of challenge at all and more variety in gameplay would have been appreciated by experienced players. However, it is good to see type of productions for virtual reality, which show great potential.
