8 / 10.0 - Trigger Witch
Aug 19, 2021

Trigger Witch successfully combines a top-down RPG with a twin-stick shooter, creating a fun amalgamation of genres that works really well. It's fun to play and provides plenty of exploration in a cute and colorful world that also happens to be ultra violent. I'd prefer less violence – or an option to turn it off – but there's still plenty to enjoy here.

7.5 / 10.0 - Induction
Aug 5, 2021

Induction is a simple yet clever puzzle title with a unique concept. Don't let the relaxing music and pastel tones fool you; this is one tough game! Replayability is minimal, but there are some real brain teasers in here for those ready to accept the challenge.

Indigo 7 Quest for Love is ok. The story is fun and charming and the puzzle mechanics work well in solo mode. Throw in a CPU and there's suddenly an unbalanced difficulty level that's just too frustrating. The addition of local multiplayer could still entice some players.

Infernal Radiation is an interesting game that won't appeal to everyone. It's a bit repetitive and rough around the edges, but the oddness is certainly unique and the battles are challenging.

7.5 / 10.0 - Pictooi
Jul 9, 2021

Pictooi is a fun picross game with a simple and well-presented style. It's lacking a few features, but the puzzles are enjoyable and the daily brain training element is a nice feature for anyone who likes to flex that particular muscle.

Sun Wukong VS Robot is a great platforming experience. It's addictively fun to play, hard as nails, and honestly a joy for fans of the genre. At the budget price of $4.99, it's easy to recommend this title to players ready for their next challenge.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is a good third-person shooter that's a little on the light side in terms of graphical style and humour, but don't be fooled – there are many missions to conquer and plenty of characters to unlock as you seek your ultimate team. The fast-paced action should keep you busy for hours.

Regina & Mac World is heavily inspired by platforming greats of the past, yet falls short on delivering the fun homage it aims to provide. It plays more like a demo, with a poorly designed platforming experience and clumsy controls. I am hopeful of an improved version in the future but, for now, this is sadly one to avoid.

8 / 10.0 - Miitopia
Jun 3, 2021

Miitopia surpassed my expectations! There's a surprising amount of content here, given the initial appearance and cutesy graphics. If you prefer the light-hearted side of RPGs, there's a lot of fun to be had, with a lengthy game on offer. And it is loads of fun creating Miis of your family and friends (or teddies and pets) along the way.

Despite a fun premise overall, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is tough to recommend. Apart from its high price tag, it also lacks the touchscreen controls that made the original so fun. It’s missing some of the heart of the series, which could have been addressed with some simple audio cues. I actually enjoyed my time with this game, but it would be a better purchase if picked up on sale. A big sale.

Chess Knights – Viking Land provides hours of puzzle-based gameplay using a twist on the usual chess formula. With some additional incentives to replay, and a little more finesse in the controls, this could be a must-have puzzle game. It's still worth checking out, particularly anyone with a penchant for chess.

6.5 / 10.0 - Thunderflash
Mar 16, 2021

Thunderflash might not win any awards for originaility, but as a callback to the arcade classics of yesteryear, it's not meant to. Overall, it's a fun way to waste a few hours shooting things with a friend.

Although it tries to shake up the shooter forumal, Redout: Space Assault doesn't fully succeed, with a lack of clear instructions and a control scheme that's not intuitive. Although there's plenty of action, it's not as satisfying as it should be to shoot your way through space.

Vera Blanc's second outing is very much like her first in terms of style and gameplay, bringing both good and bad elements from the original game along for another ride. Still, the story is fun to read and the mystery worth solving, so fans will find enjoyment here.

When the Past was Around is a well-made point-and-click adventure. The music and visuals contribute to the captivating, if abstract, tale. The puzzles are just right in terms of difficulty, although the game could be a little longer overall, making it a very good distraction for an afternoon.
