60 / 100 - Serious Sam 4
Dec 13, 2021

If you're a hardcore fan of Serious Sam then this new installment will deliver the same experience that you love but outside the fanbase, Serious Sam 4 is just a massive horde mode single-player adventure.

Minecraft Dungeons isn't like traditional Minecraft. There's no building or crafting, instead, it's a hack and slash title that takes a lot of reference from Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo series. With the player traveling through multiple biomes to save the Villages from a deadly threat. It still carries the Minecraft charm with enemies and locations designed after the massively popular indie title but doesn't attempt to take advantage of the mechanics that made the franchise such a hit. Instead, relying on the Minecraft charm for an average experience.

60 / 100 - Darksiders III
Nov 27, 2018

Darksiders has been a fickle franchise. The first game faced polarizing reviews due to the bland gameplay and mediocre puzzles but its sequel improved on many of the previous games issues thanks to incredible boss fights and more fluid combat. Darksiders III takes a different route, attempting to change the meta of the entire franchise by implementing modifications that make Fury's adventure distinct from the previous games. Making Darksiders III much harder and more linear than previous entries that can be seen either detrimental or beneficial to the overall gameplay.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a serviceable remaster of the 2014 adventure. The game is stable, especially compared to the original, and the improved graphics and framerate are a nice update.

65 / 100 - Far Cry 6
Oct 10, 2021

"Ubisoft Game", when you hear that you can predict what you're going to get. An open-world experience with lots of monotonous optional objectives. Far Cry 6 is exactly that, a large open map with lots of similar optional objectives as you attempt to take back Yara for the people and dethrone dictator Anton Castillo. It does more of what past Far Cry games since the soft reboot of the franchise with Far Cry 3, this time with a new location and characters. The strong performances, impressive visuals, and incredible cutscenes are Far Cry 6's saving grace but the gameplay is a repetitive grind that a "Ubisoft Game" is known for.

65 / 100 - Battletoads
Aug 21, 2020

Battletoads has a notorious reputation among older gamers as both an incredibly challenging yet insanely wacky series. The franchise was one of Rare's smash hits but has been on a multi-decade hiatus and limited to cameo appearances until now. With Dlala Studios reviving the dormant franchise with a brand new entry that remains loyal to the original beat 'em up formula but with cartoonish hand-drawn visuals. Battletoads is a surprisingly amusing and lighthearted title with a charming story and fun combat and serves as a great new start for the franchise. If only it didn't release it with a major technical issue.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboots the legendary series that set the standard for multiplayer progression. The campaign touches on sensitive issues on the reality of modern warfare within a stale generic narrative. The multiplayer is the same experience with slight changes to the established Call of Duty system. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is more of the same and won't change the minds of those who've never liked the series or have moved on to other games.

The Wii U was one of Nintendo's biggest failures but despite this, the system has some strong exclusives and New Super Mario Bros. U was not one of them. Given the Nintendo Switch's large success Nintendo decided to release the title for the Nintendo Switch with all the DLC, gameplay tweaks, a new character, and powerup. While the changes definitely improve the experience New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe still remains a weak installment in the 2D platforming franchise.

65 / 100 - Narcosis
Jul 21, 2018

Narcosis is a polarizing game, on one hand, the underwater setting and isolation captures the sense of unnerving tension of being alone but at the same time, the gameplay is slow and vexing. The developers successfully crafted stressful situations forcing you to cautiously walk through the next room but also included frustrating moments of getting stuck in the world's geometry. Narcosis is a great horror title for fans of the genre if they can endure the slow pace.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 3: More than a Feeling is currently the weakest episode of this season but concludes on a high note.
