The combat is a bit weird, seeing as they forced room for emotes and such when they pushed for micro-transactions and pay-to-win +gambling.
Other than that, the combat is nice, although the ability cards does ruin it a bit and makes it a "who can spam abilities the fastest", given you got the right combo. They can also lead to some interesting builds and would've made more sense if they had focused on squads and individual vulnerability instead of the more semi-classical battlefield-had-***-with-battlefront kind of game.
Multiplayer isn't like the originals, but can still be a very enjoyable moment, given some dude isn't flying across map to murder you to death with feelthetroll.exe running in the background.
And the flying is pretty awkward compared to the originals, so I recommend using third party software to make it smoother (doing this on game servers might get you banned, but it's not like they do anything about the current cheaters as is).
The campaign is ****.
Utter ****.
They kill off the only 1 relatable guy at the end of their very short campaign, which I actually thought was a prologue to the actual campaign.
For some reason, everyone is female. Even the event scripted storm troopers with male voices become female.
Don't get me wrong, there are males, but mostly females.
Which leads me to how to ruin a game with political agendas:
Force women all over the place, to the point where you can't help but notice that there are only female officers and some female exclusive classes.
Ok, fair the CLONE troopers are all male. But there is a reason. They were cloned from a one man.
So after Layla Hassan from assassins creed shoot her friend in the nuts to safe some people who were doomed anyway, her awkward white man boyfriend who has to be reminded that he is second and she is always first (I kid you not, she says it every time they encounter enemies), surrender themselves to help the rebels and blow up everything they own. You do some generic missions, with some actually being nice.
The game then reveals a bunch of stuff, which goes against already established Dinsey canon and again keeps forcing their politics in your face.
It stays like this for the rest of the game before it tells you to play multiplayer matches to finish the actual campaign (this doesn't give you anymore insight).
So overall without ranting too much, here is my rating and verdict to whoever actually reads this.
100 total points to be given.
Micro-transactions = insta 0/10 (stop that **** you greedy China backing *****)
Combat gameplay = 6/10 (as mentioned in the short rant, the forced space made for emotes and micro-transactions ruined some good opportunity)
Flying gameplay = 7/10 (no maneuvers and awkwards steering + the ability slots for ability cards, just to get that extra edge over others, you know?)
Vehicles = 7/10 (same as flying and combat tbh. ruined by greed, but still ok)
Maps 7/10 (they spent so much time on how the maps look, that they forgot to make some of the maps enjoyable and results in odd hitbox placements, invisible walls at some very inconvenient places etc.)
Online play 8/10 (apart from the traces of micro-transaction filth and a lack of better anti-cheating, it's quite enjoyable.
Single player story 2/10 (forced political agendas can be spotted all over, not to mention a main character that is so empty of actual character that the back-up white plot guy, who had more character than her, is killed just to give her character + it's so short that living microbes are now writing down the story in their books with human font sizes)
Graphics 8/10 (would've said 9/10, but I can't help but wonder wtf happened with their faces. Leia looks like Leia's cousin, however old Leia looks like actual Leia + pre-order locks on some stuff in the game)
Content for the price 6/10 (even though the game has undergone massive changed, it's still not good content for the price, unless you are ok with paying for an online game with a lack of refining and missing single player campaign made by someone who knows how to Star Wars, instead of that political bullshit + pre-order content locks only accessible for people with an pre-order bonus)
Glitches and bugs 3/10 (the game is in need of heavy AI refining and a fix on most, if not all animations + not all functions in-game are actually working + the third person view really needs to fix a right handed person walking like a leftie, but holding the rifle like a right handed)
Overall I rate this game 54/100.
It's just about ok to be played for a small game of online before you get annoyed and bored with people having an unfair advantage.
It's basically a game that tries to push ****** politics, rip-off a beloved game (Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the one released in 2005)).
Spend your money elsewhere, but if you got this game for free on Epic Games when it was free, good on you, now go get killed some some cheaters.
But not before playing through a naz- I mean Disney enforced world of... I honestly can't think of something without making it sound way worse than it actually is.
