A nice roguelike by Double Fine Productions, even if it's a bit shallow.

Thanks to a substantial story developed along the ten new levels available and to the rather well-built antagonists, Shadowbringers manages to bring the player to moments of tension, epic battles and espionage missions, allowing himself some dramatic moments that make us almost hope history took an even more tragic turn.

Sea of Solitude is a game of suffering and altruism, of lights and shadows, of terrible errors and courageous teachings. The work of Cornelia Geppert and Jo-Mai Games is without any doubt a game worth playing.

Even with its (few) flaws, The Sinking City manages to shine right where other games of the same genre have failed to impress. It doesn't abuse jumpscare and useless boss fights, but instead Frogwares focused on a well thought out and engaging investigative system and on pleasant action parts, which naturally lead the player to discover the monstrosities of the abyss and to bitterly repent of their own curiosity.

Void Bastards is based on a neat concept inspired by many things, especially System Shock 2. Too bad it's a bit too monotonous.

Super Cane Magic ZERO is the perfect example of how to best nurture the creativity, style and humor of a cartoonist without making a product destined exclusively to the fans. This new game by Studio Evil manages to be modern and fresh gameplay-wise without sparing tributes and citations to the gaming and pop universe.

Layers of Fear 2 retains many of the features of its predecessor while varying the setting greatly. Wandering in solitude on the Icarus in search of the truth is undoubtedly a claustrophobic experience, however, the continuous use of the more classic clichés of the horror genre makes the final result too predictable and inevitably much less terrifying than expected.

Technosphere Reload could have been a challenging and addictive puzzle platformer. However, a problematic camera and all the hidden obstacles and traps make the experience too much frustrating.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is not a soulsborne, and it's not another Tenchu. However, the breathtaking landscapes of a war-torn Japan and a mysterious but compelling story make a perfect outline for a rhythmic, stimulating and particularly challenging gameplay.

Anthem is a hymn to laziness, where a great potential is held back by strong repetitiveness, the absence of some basic features and the artificially increased level of difficulty. Moreover, BioWare and Electronic Arts made an incomplete product, a mere idea of a full game with the promise that each patch will bring us closer to what we might call a final product. Still, is it possible to have fun with a group of friends and spend some pleasant time exploring or fighting? Sure, but the experience will quickly turn into an infinite loop devoid of any goal.

The latest adventure of Rico Rodriguez, with its good dose of adrenaline and over-the-top action, forces our hero to embark on a real impossible mission to dismantle the dangerous Project Illapa. Despite the lack of variety and the exaggerated length of the campaign, Just Cause 4 still manages to push the boundaries of players' imagination, dragging them once again into a world of destruction, explosions and pure chaos.

The porting of a title as peculiar as Abzû has gone incredibly well, considering the difficulty of having to find the perfect balance between a lower resolution and the details of a graphic style so poetically minimalist. Giant Squid's little masterpiece is a must have for those who are inclined to yield to the irresistible call of the sea, even on Nintendo Switch.

Despite some flaws, Lucid Dream certainly deserves a chance because of its wonderful surreal setting – entirely hand drawn – and the events that revolve around the little, "Alice-like" protagonist.

On one hand, Call of Cthulhu is able to drag the player into an adventure with a dark and oppressive atmosphere, in which nobody really seems to be on our side, and curiosity can turn out to be our worst enemy. On the other hand, the little care given to some aspects of the game and the implementation of certain mechanics transform this game into a missed opportunity to celebrate the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
