7 / 10.0 - King of Seas
May 24, 2021

Although it doesn’t reach levels of Sid Meier’s beloved game, the developers have managed to make an oceanic warfare focused pirate game with a little mercantile adventures on the side. All in all King of Seas comes out as a fun if a little repetitive naval combat game.

6 / 10.0 - Of Bird and Cage
May 20, 2021

Making a video game to be the vessel of a music album is a nice new idea in an industry that by each passing day is becoming saturated by same-y products. The problem is that it all ends up being a tired interactive movie with morally questionable parts in its narrative.

Aerial_Knight's Never Yield is a fun endless runner game that uses the music as its biggest asset in conveying the rhythm and action to the player. It may be a little short for the more fiscally conservative players but the record focused nature of gameplay and its three challenging difficulties make you return for more every time you finish a full run.

Almost 20 years after it was first released, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is still a fun and wholesome JRPG experience with some crazy and thought provoking story beats that stick with you for some time after finishing the it and entice you to try again and do things differently.

7 / 10.0 - Skate City
May 6, 2021

Skate City is a cozy and casual experience with nice visuals that can quench the thirst of the skater inside you. The touch controls have been adapted quite nicely to controllers and mouse & keyboard.

After two underwhelming DLCs, The Lost Gods is a nice and interesting send off for the first steps of this new franchise in the making.

8 / 10.0 - Ashwalkers
Apr 15, 2021

The gameplay may be a simple run-of-the-mill survival design but the beautiful art style and the non-linear storytelling with its melancholic atmosphere make Ashwalkers a very enticing proposition.

5 / 10.0 - Say No! More
Apr 13, 2021

Aside from having a kind of unique idea and tools for making your playable character as funny as you can, there isn’t much to recommend here because all the so called jokes fall flat and the gameplay is really a No Playing Game as the developers have suggested so you can Say No! to this one.

If you wanted more of the same but with a new look, Myths of the Eastern Realm is just the thing for you but if the fact that you were going to get a totally new and different setting from the main game had raised your expectations, there is a good chance that you will get disappointed.

8 / 10.0 - Genesis Noir
Mar 26, 2021

Genesis Noir is unique in the way that it is actually different from anything you consider a video game. The bits that make the full span of the game, at first glance shouldn’t really be part of the same whole but they’ve been put together so masterfully that it works beautifully on both the artistic and the emotional levels and it still feels and plays like a true video game.

As part of a trio of additional content, A New God is kind of acceptable and it’s a good thing that it feels like a real new content and not just some cut content from the original game but the lack of variety in gameplay and the frustration that stems from the physics based puzzles, make this feel like a step back from the base product.

Nioh 2 developers are like some ruthless gods of the old myths, they have designed some of the biggest challenges of the video games history but they also have given enough tools to you to overcome all these challenges, you only have to have the will and perseverance to do it. You don’t necessarily need to be a masochist to have fun with it but that helps with your overall enjoyment. And last but not least, this Complete Edition gives you a lot of content that you wouldn’t need to buy anything else for some time.

9 / 10.0 - Hitman 3
Jan 22, 2021

Unlike most trilogies, the World of Assassination’s last part sticks the landing in the best possible way. Gameplay-wise there isn’t lots of new toys here but the hero of gameplay has always been the missions themselves in this series and Hitman III has some of the most memorable ones under its hood. The story goes to some dark and interesting places and the music is there to help it hit the gamers with more power.

7 / 10.0 - Sunlight
Jan 16, 2021

The art style, music and voice acting are the real heroes here because the story and specially the monologues that are used to convey the story doesn't do much to awaken the sort of feelings that are necessary for this kind of game to make an impact and the gameplay is the most basic kind of walking sim you could expect.

8 / 10.0 - Haven
Dec 3, 2020

There is banter, love, fight for survival and it all revolves around two very likable protagonists and has a nice art style. This is not one of those dark dystopian futuristic rebel stories, it is about two people trying to have their own piece of freedom and it is a nice change of pace between all these dour same-y sci-fi games and movies. The gameplay could’ve had more range to it but all in all it’s good enough for the game it is trying to be.

The vast number of places Immortals Fenyx Rising were taking its core ideas from, should have made it an unimaginative title but in action, it is a very good and welcoming surprise. From its revisionist take on Greek mythology to the very intricate puzzles with many, many moving parts, this is one the most fun open world games in recent years.

The original release of Devil May Cry 5 was not only what the fans were asking for years but the additions to the old formula made it better than the highest of expectations. This Special Edition adds more to the already impressive package and it’s one of the best titles for the maiden voyage of your new console.

Music has always been a very important part of Kingdom Hearts and a rhythm game is a very understandable step for this series and it kind of works. The problem is that the story which has always been the core of this franchise is totally forgotten here because about two third of it is the recap of story so far and the new material doesn’t really move the story as much as a 10-hour full priced title should.

The transition from a top notch brawler to a JRPG feels totally seamless. The gameplay have all the good parts we expect from a JRPG translated to the language of the Yakuza series but it also has some of the bad parts like the need for grinding and some unfair boss fights. The story and new characters are presented in a way that make this new journey for the franchise very well worth taking.

9 / 10.0 - Hades
Oct 26, 2020

Hades doesn't try to reinvent the wheel but the little seasoning that the developers has sprinkled on this old formula combined with the mysterious story and it's colorful characters make this one of the best games of the year so far.
