Mikhail Madnani's Reviews
Wargroove is one of the best games I've played on the Switch and the perfect tactical game to get deep into while waiting for Fire Emblem Three Houses.
Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal is a nice gateway into the franchise and a very good remake of the 3DS classic but one that won't offer much for players of Estival Versus thanks to a lot of reuse.
The Atelier Arland Series Deluxe Pack brings together 3 classic Atelier games for modern systems and while the ports could have been better, these are still some great and relaxing JRPGs.
Earth Defense Force 5 is a fantastic games for fans of the series and a great starting point for newcomers looking for a B movie like experience with addictive gameplay.
Katamari Damacy REROLL is a fantastic experience for people who have never experienced the game before but it is a pretty barebones port on PC.
It almost feels like Horizon Chase did to Out Run what Octopath Traveler did to 16 bit era JRPGs when it comes to feel and visuals. If you need something to satiate your old school racing desire before Out Run shows up next year, get this. It is a must play title.
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight is a fun rhythm game that could've been so much more but still manages to be well worth it for Persona 3 fans with some excellent music.
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight is a rhythm game that is very good but one that should've been released later on so it could've had a more varied soundtrack with better remixes.
The best rhythm game on Nintendo Switch, and one with a surprisingly fun party mode.
Overcooked! 2 – Surf ‘n' Turf is an excellent expansion that adds interesting new mechanics and more than enough content to justify the asking price with only poor difficulty scaling holding it back.
Black Bird is one of the most interesting games I've played in a long time with loads of surprises all over the place.
The World Ends With You -Final Remix-, while still great for newcomers, should have been the definitive version of the Nintendo DS classic but it ends up being just an improved version of the mobile game with far too little new content.
Disgaea 1 Complete is the definitive version of the first game in of the best tactical RPG franchises ever.
A fantastic standalone prequel to the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that is held back by one really annoying design decision.
Mini Metro on the Switch is a fantastic and zen like strategy puzzle experience with elegant visuals and addictive gameplay.
Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk is a refreshing addition to the DRPG genre that is a must play for fans of Etrian Odyssey and those who enjoy NIS' visual style.
On the Switch, Hyper Light Drifter looks great and it runs almost perfectly. While the performance is good for the most part, some areas see things drop or basically go erratic. In games like this where you need to be a bit quick, I prefer having the option to lock the framerate to 30 over an unlocked experience which is what it feels like in some situations. I also noticed more issues while docked than handheld with Hyper Light Drifter. Other than that, you can even play with a single Joy-Con if you’d like. There is also a Switch exclusive outfit that helps you out a bit.
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is a competent and accessible fighter that is held back by some visual issues and a bad story.
If you've been waiting for a true follow up to Dragon Quest VIII or just have been craving a massive JRPG with a gorgeous world, this is the game for you.
This feels like a golden age 3DS game. I hope patches address the Switch version because portable play definitely works best for these kinds of games. The PS4 version based on our time with it is a lot better in terms of visuals, performance, and load times
