WORTH CONSIDERING - One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 lets you live out your wildest One Piece fever dream of crushing enemies as God Usopp, but the action grows stale after short time and after awhile you realize you’d much rather just be watching the anime again for the third time.
GREAT - Doom 64 is as fun to play today as it was back on the Nintendo 64, while looking better than ever. If you’re looking for a mindlessly entertaining way to pass the time until you can play Doom Eternal on the Switch this might be the best remedy for you.
GREAT - Another awesome blast from the past finds its way onto the Nintendo Switch with the release of Sega Ages Shinobi. Now you can experience the brutally difficult world of ninja master Joe Musashi anywhere you like. Also you can just take it easy and experience a less difficult version with the ability to rewind time. Get your quarters ready.
GOOD - I’ve had a lot of fun with Pokémon Sword exploring the Wild Area and catching fully evolved Pokémon wandering around there. There are plenty of issues and it’s far from perfect. Despite that it’s still enjoyable to jump back into the wonderful world of Pokémon with Arcanine by my side.
GOOD - This might be the best monster battling game on the Switch, at least for a few more weeks. If you absolutely can’t wait until the new Pokémon games release it’s worth it to hangout in the Digital World for a little while and spend some time with some digital critters on the DigiFarm.
GREAT - Retake your planet back from your wayward father in this action sci-fi epic filled to the brim with double bass kicks and guitar riffs. Just don’t head bang your Switch, okay?
GOOD - It’s not going to wow anyone with its visuals or music, but The Alliance Alive HD Remastered a solid entry in the JRPG genre, further adding to the Nintendo Switch stellar library of games. Try it out if you’ve got nothing else to play this month, but with huge AAA games like Dragon Quest XI S and Zelda: Link’s Awakening arguably offering better experiences it’s hard to recommend this one over them as your first choice.
EXCELLENT - I give Untitled Goose Game 9 honks out of 10 for its originality and charm. It’s the best goose game I’ve ever played, so be sure to waddle on down to the e-shop and pick up this instant classic.
EXCELLENT - Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is the best way to experience the classic adventure and it’s perfect for the Switch on the go. It’s finally the best looking guy in the room.
GREAT - The Heart of the Cards is with this one. Fans of the long running Yu-Gi-Oh! series won’t be disappointed as all the cards are here. It’s time to duel!
WORTH CONSIDERING - Fans of Tokyo RPG Factory’s previous games will no doubt pick this one up, but what they play will probably not be what they were expecting. Too much needless grinding and pacing keep Oninaki from reaching the greatness it could have been, despite its wonderful art direction and touching story.
GOOD - Liberating Paris from the Nazis is a lot of fun, and even more so with a friend. If you like the rebooted Wolfenstein games then you’re bound to love this one too. C’mon, it’s killing Nazis.
WORTH CONSIDERING - Senran Kagura Peach Ball is a fun experience for fans of sexy anime girls and flashy arcade pinball games but don’t expect it to last for too long. Come for the pinball, stay for the dress up.
WORTH CONSIDERING - The Last Remnant Remastered is available now for the Nintendo Switch. It’s not a particularly good game but there are a few good ideas throughout, albeit far and few between. With so many other great JRPGs available on the Switch it’s hard to justify why anyone would want this game over any others.
GREAT - Picture this: backflip in slow motion onto a skateboard while shooting a frying pan to ricochet bullets to kill the bad guys all to appease your friend Pedro – a sentient banana. If that’s not enough for you then I don’t know what to tell you.
Gato Roboto combines cats and mechs both blended into a Metroid-like adventure that is sure to please cat lovers and gamers alike. Kiki is the best and I’ll fight anyone to protect her.
GREAT - It’s Final Fantasy VII. I love this game so much I went to a concert in Tokyo to watch “A One Winged Angel” performed live. If you’re even a remote fan of turn-based JRPGs you should probably pick this one up. At long last you can play it anywhere at anytime!
GREAT - Wrapped up in beautiful cartoon package, The Swords of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse delivers a solid, albeit tedious, adventure game that looks and sounds great on the Nintendo Switch. Bonus: you can play as a dog with a straw hat!
GOOD - Katana Zero slashes onto the Switch with breakneck action sequences that will have the player striving for perfection despite its high difficulty. Turn the volume up and zone out to the tunes of the ‘80s and enjoy a nice throwback to the decade that popularized action flicks and cyberpunk futures.
GREAT - The Red Strings Club is a great way to spend a lazy Sunday curled up in bed. The story is engaging and made all the better by its well-written cast of rogues. It’ll definitely leave you thinking long after you’re finished.
