It's no coincidence that Uncharted is one of the flagships of Sony's gaming brand. Both adventures found in Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection are as PlayStation as it gets: intense and exciting narratives with well-crafted cinematics and gameplay that, despite not excelling in originality, meets all the requirements to be fun. This inclusion on PC will give more fans the opportunity to get to know this world of treasure hunting, with several graphical options to customize the experience for each one. The only real drawback is the price demanded at launch, lack of other extras, multiplayer mode and some missing accessibility options. I can only say that this Legacy of Thieves is a must-have for anyone who wants (roughly) twenty hours very well spent.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered holds the heart and soul of a video game that captures the experience of being Spider-Man and Peter Parker very well. Granted, the sameness of the inhabited world is impossible to ignore, but everything pertaining to this arachnid centric cycle is so good that swinging from web to web with your eyes closed is easy. With a storyline that will pull at the corner of your eye, combat that constantly evolves until the end of the game, and a port so well crafted by Nixxes Software there is no justification for any fan to pass up the opportunity to #BeGreater.

9 / 10.0 - God of War
Jan 12, 2022

Disregarding my skepticism with Sony exclusives, God of War showed me an adventure full of heart and emotion, a journey without brakes in both action and drama, mirroring an unstable but believable relationship between father and son. Thankfully all fans of the master race, in quotes, will be able to jubilate together due to the quality of the port and an experience that is, at the very least, a must-see. Adding to the list of accomplishments is the fun gameplay and memorable exploration. I will admit, however, that the boss fights disappointed a bit because of their repetitiveness. Other than that? After twenty-five hours of adventure I may still not believe in the Norse gods, but I certainly believe in God of War. Let's have the sequel yesterday.

Ring Fit Adventure is unusual, strange, fun, well-structured and something which only Nintendo could have come up with. What could very well be a no-frills fitness app is actually a fully-fledged game with all the right ingredients and which can get the player to enjoy physical exercise, all while fulfilling the requirements to be an enjoyable game.

Rune Factory 4 Special on the Nintendo Switch deserves its title. With an addictive, gratifying gameplay, content for many hours and enjoyable characters, this is a gem that while more attractive for new players than for veterans, deserves an investment of time and energy, even if its visual world could use some improvement.

8 / 10 - La-Mulana 2
May 7, 2020

La-Mulana 2 builds on its predecessor's legacy and improves on nearly every aspect, the result being a Metroidvania-type of game with a very demanding difficulty level but also a very rewarding experience. With a visual environment that brings back memories of the 16-bit era, a marvelous soundtrack and a more detailed plot, La-Mulana 2 may not appeal to those who did not enjoy the original but anyone else will easily be all over it quickly enough.

8 / 10 - Ion Fury
May 22, 2020

Ion Fury brings an action experience that aims to replicate its inspirations from over twenty years ago using today's technology, as if to bring a game that features a retro charm with contemporary elements. And it works, Ion Fury is very successful at striking a balance between the retro feel and today's amenities that make gameplay more enjoyable.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens adds one more chapter to a very appreciated series and while the ambition to be the best game to carry the Shantae name is not a full success, this is a very appealing work that combines a marvelous presentation, good level design and a gameplay experience that will please veterans of the series as well as welcome any newcomers.

All in all, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is a JRPG good enough to be enjoyed on its own, but whose narrative and storyline take on added weight when there is the context of the Sky and Cold Steel saga behind it. Still, the narrative's focus on a small scale allows it to sell a very personal and intriguing world, with the more 'retro' soundtrack, gameplay and graphics helping the euphony. It is genuinely sad that there are two visually different versions between PS4, Switch and PC, however this is an adventure worth experiencing for fans of the genre regardless of platform of choice.

I don't know how Ghostrunner: Complete Edition slipped under my radar for two years, but it proved to be a very fun title. As the bastard and illegitimate child of Cyberpunk 2077 and Mirror's Edge, several aspects such as the narrative, atmosphere and frenetic gameplay are to be commended, as well as the Project Hel adventure and the overall good performance of the title. The only regrets are the bugs that occurred, the length of the adventure and the lack of accessibility options. Still this is a video game worthy of your time and attention, even more so if the themes employed are of interest to you.

Criticized positively by other means as the most ambitious iteration of the franchise, Pokémon Legends: Arceus conveys the feeling of being a cake in the oven for quite some time. It is the adventure that all fans have dreamed of, a departure from all the "gum" already more than chewed by then, and the least tautological. Game Freak has risked every chip in hand, creating one of the most exciting video games on its menu, full of several points for and few against. Granted, the overall performance isn't the best, as well as moving the focus away from battles causes some general inconsistencies but Hisui, with everything associated with it, is so much fun and full of life. It may not be more than perfect, but it is definitely better than imagination.

7 / 10 - Candleman
Oct 16, 2019

Candleman is a simple game with a charming plot that could not stand out more for both its simplicity and uniqueness. Thanks to its praise-worthy level design Candleman is an experience that can easily become rewarding for anyone who wants to play it even for only 10 minutes, which makes it fit like a charm on the Nintendo Switch. There is not much more to Candleman, though, which is a pity as the game could offer much more if it was more ambitious.

7 / 10 - Vampyr
Nov 9, 2019

Vampyr puts the player at the centre of a very well written plot where many sub-plots intertwine, with the player's actions seriously affecting the narrative developments that follow. This alone is very much worthy of praise, but the game's gothic atmosphere is outstanding. Vampyr's rather long loading times and occasional unstable performance can feel frustrating at times but the game undoubtedly brings an added value to Nintendo Switch owners.

Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and The Millionaires' Conspiracy – Deluxe Edition brings less to the Nintendo Switch than the length of its name might suggest. As a remaster of a previously released game, the biggest differences lie in the audiovisual element, but there are new puzzles featured in this version. It's not a very demanding game and doesn't overtake the most significant games in the Layton series but this is a charming and welcoming introduction for those who have never explored the world of these adventure & detective games.

7 / 10 - Raging Loop
Nov 16, 2019

Accessible and with a very well crafted plot, Raging Loop feels a bit disappointing regarding the art style of its settings and some of the endings are inconsequential but the overall result is an experience that is welcoming for both fans of visual novels and for beginners.

7 / 10 - Cat Quest II
Dec 9, 2019

Cat Quest II is an action RPG that with its world of cats and dogs, makes for a funny and good-humoured experience. With its colourful and eye-filling world and a simple combat system, Cat Quest II can get a bit repetitive at some points and there's not a lot to do after the main quest is done but that doesn't stand on the way of Cat Quest II being another very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

7 / 10 - Bee Simulator
Dec 25, 2019

Bee Simulator bears the markings of a fun action game, as well as of an educational experience. With its myriad of information about bees and an enjoyable, relaxing gameplay that will be welcomed by both children and adults, Bee Simulator would benefit from more precise controls, as well as from a more polished visual environment but nothing that precludes it from being a fun experience.

Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha on the Nintendo Switch brings a compilation of six old-school shoot'em-ups, the kind that made many fans in the 1990s. The games featured in the collection are overall quite good and entertaining and the way this compilation was adapted to the Nintendo Switch works wonders for the experience of retro shoot'em-ups. While more extras and additional content wouldn't harm, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha will make shoot'em-ups fans very satisfied with this collection.

Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times follows up on the previous game and improves on several points, including its plot and the random reward system at the end of each level, which acts as quite a strong motivator to find out what will happen next. The experience ends up feeling worse when played on the Nintendo Switch screen though, due to the small size of its text and despite the touch screen controls. Some flaws in the combat system make the experience less stellar but nevertheless, this new game in the Warhammer series is definitely on the right path.
