6.5 / 10.0 - Iron Man VR
Jul 13, 2020

Graphically Marvel’s Iron Man VR often disappoints, and the mission designs sometimes seems to be taken straight from the infamous Superman 64’s leftovers. Still, however, aerial combat in this game is so much fun that I quickly disregarded all of that and started humming the riff of Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’ instead.

6 / 10.0 - Rocket Arena
Jul 23, 2020

A fun, good-looking hero shooter, but due to the lack of content and some weird design choices it might not have the chance to reach its full potential before it dies.

This fantastic remake is a perfect occasion for new players to finally experience Crypto’s adventures on Earth. It is still as funny and playable as the original, but now with some stunning visuals (unless we are talking about the pedestrian models).

Nihil novi sub sole is a perfect summary of Rock of Ages 3. Make & Break had a chance to become an ultimate Rock of Ages game with its map creator, but the lack of any major changes, a rather boring protagonist, and a terrible Switch version made this experience a quite boring and often even a frustrating one.

Without a doubt Tell Me Why tells one of the most mature stories in gaming. It touches on the topics of domestic violence and transgenderism in an incredibly tactful way, creating a world where no character is morally black or white. A fantastic story is, however, undermined by a painfully monotonous and repetitive gameplay. Nonetheless, it might improve in this regard over the course of the next two episodes.

This must be one of the cutest dating sims ever created. Please, tell me that dating mixed with taking care of a freshly adopted pup does not sound lovely? It does, right? Well, the problem here is that none of these two parts of the gameplay are done particularly well. Dating is dumbed down to the point of being completely mindless and when it comes to our good boi, it is far too easy to keep all his stats maxed out. Best Friend Forever is a perfect case of wasted potential.

Graphical glitches, empty open-world and tedious corridors full of annoying enemies. If you can get through all this, No Straight Roads will offer you an incredibly addictive gameplay mixing a slasher with a rhythm game. Great music, fantastic boss battles, and surprisingly deep plot. This is what you will remember about this game in the future.

There are remakes, remaster and ‘remasters’. Unfortunately, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning belong to the third category as it does absolutely nothing to improve the original in any visible way. It is basically the same game as the one released in 2012, meaning generic setting, affluence of painfully boring dialogues, and repetitive combat with enemies who do not pose any threat for the player.

The quickest way to summarize Shadows of New York is to say that it is a castrated version of VoTM: Coteries of New York, missing most of its mechanics and quirks. It really is baffling to me as all of the original’s mechanics would make a perfect sense in context of a detective story, allowing the players to fully emerge in VoTM world. We we’ve got, however, is just a shadow of the original. A visually and audibly fantastic one with an okay story, but still it is not what I hoped to get.

I never played a nomadic strategy game. More than that, I never even heard of anything like this. As Far As The Eye really is a one-of-a-kind game requiring the player to carefully plan their path, remembering about creating food chains and not staying too long in the same spot unless they want to be flooded and killed in the process. It takes some time to grasp the mechanics, but after that it offers a lot of satisfaction.

8 / 10.0 - art of rally
Sep 25, 2020

The most beautiful rally game I have ever played. It not only looks wonderful; it also plays just as good. Under all these fantastic graphics, there is a surprisingly competent rally game offering the play many hours of fun. It might be one of the best car games of 2020.

5 / 10.0 - Moero Crystal H
Oct 1, 2020

Moero Crystal H would be a decent, but pretty forgettable due to its uninteresting story, dungeon crawler. The thing is… The protagonist of this game is a straight up sexual predator if I have ever seen one. It is quite baffling to me how a game in which the game loop is collecting monster-girls by destroying their clothes and assaulting them was released under the current political climate. I am all for the unrestricted artistic freedom, but Moero Crystal H left a bad taste in my mouth.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tell Me Why
Oct 11, 2020

Tell Me Why tells one of the most mature stories in gaming. It touches on the topics of domestic violence and transgenderism in an incredibly tactful way, creating a world where no character is morally black or white. Unlike in most of Dontnod’s games, there’s almost no fantastical elements to the game, making the story and gameplay surprisingly grounded in reality. Don’t expect much action here, Tell Me Why focuses on its character. The most action-packed moments were a plushie fight and a fishing minigame.

Aquanox: Deep Descent invites the players to enter one of the most fascinating postapocalyptic worlds in gaming history. Sure, Fallouts and Wastelands are fine, but Earth covered with water? That’s simply better! Sadly, the rest of the game is as good as the setting. Submarine combat is quite fun, but between the fights the player has to swim through same-looking underwater caves, performing repetitive tasks and interact with boring characters. Still, it is worth playing solely for the eerie atmosphere of the ocean.

9 / 10.0 - Space Crew
Oct 25, 2020

I really wanted to love this game as much as I loved the original Bomber Crew. Sadly, it was not meant to be. At first glance, Space Crew seems to be more of the same, but just after a couple of hours it becomes apparent most of Bomber Crew’s charm is missing, leaving the player with repetitive combat and tons of grind, resulting in a quite monotonous gameplay.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a terrible mess of a game. Boring gameplay, mediocre graphics, horrific sound mixing and unnecessarily convoluted plot make Broken Porcelain one of the worst games I played this year.

8 / 10.0 - Chicken Police
Nov 5, 2020

That must be a single most unique game released this year. Absolutely beautiful film noir visuals and cliches mix here with Bojack Horseman-ish aesthetics mix, resulting in a fantastic game set in a fascinating world run by anthropomorphic animals.

6 / 10.0 - Twin Mirror
Dec 7, 2020

For every absolutely fantastic game DONTOND Entertainment gives us, we receive another one which unfortunately is not as good. Although Twin Mirror is not utterly bad and it offers a couple if interesting ideas, it also feels rushed and unpolished. Especially in the narration department as the story fails to grasp the player’s attention, boring them with rather dull dialogues between underdeveloped characters.

Gunfire Games decided to rework their pre-Remnant VR game to work without VR goggles and mark it as a Remnant’s prequel, giving us Chronos: Before the Ashes – quite a unique souls-like title. Dark Souls veterans will find it rather unappealing due to its low difficulty level and lack of playstyle variety. However, for the very same reason Chronos is a perfect game for those who always thought souls-likes might be fun but were driven away by their ‘only for hardcores’ label.

7.5 / 10.0 - Cyberpunk 2077
Dec 21, 2020

CD Projekt RED did something incredible. They managed to create the game that you wholeheartedly wish to keep playing in spite of all the bugs, broken mechanics and bland gameplay. Cyberpunk 2077 was saved by its narration. Night City feels alive thanks to its breathtaking design, well-developed characters and multi-layered quests. Although it is not the messiah that we were promised, it still is a good game.
