Ys: Memories of Celceta takes the opportunity of passing on the Sony flagship to reveal that it has always been a must play for all JRPG lovers. With its complete and rounded gameplay, its compelling story and a really interesting overall proposal, the title of Nihon Falcom and Marvelous no longer really offers any excuse to those who hadn’t been able to approach this previously. Celceta Forest, in its mysterious enormity, has never been so close, and it’s calling us all.

6.1 / 10.0 - Waking
Jul 4, 2020

Overall Waking tries, but it's not enough. It tries with the excellent meditative phases, it tries by building an action RPG apparatus based on personal emotions and our intimate knowledge of ourselves, which will lead us to transubstantiate our fears and our hopes on the screen. It tries with a more than enough artistic sector, albeit not exciting. Not new, but well done and accompanied by a good soundtrack. It tries but falls into transposing the idea into practice. Its gameplay is why Waking fails. Coarse, simplistic and limiting, as it should never be something that aims to illustrate the human soul. The two-meter-by-two-meter anthropomorphic deer can continue to tap me on the shoulder on my deathbed, but I don't know if I want too much to follow him.

7.2 / 10.0 - Blair Witch
Jul 22, 2020

The arrival of Blair Witch on the Nintendo Switch can still be analyzed as a successful operation, albeit more on a conceptual level than on a technical level. The product, which still gives its best on the other consoles on which it’s available, also brings to the hybrid one of the Kyoto’s software house all its baggage of anxiety and fear, even if very weakened by the limits imposed by a port that greatly penalizes the graphics sector. It's weird to carry the Black Hills forest on Switch so simply in your pocket, as if its monstrosities are tamed. But don't make the mistake of underestimating its darkness on Nintendo Switch: Blair Witch is always ready to make you disappear.

In an overview it can be said that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is just that: a powerful deployment of forces by the publisher and a masterful use of the aforementioned forces by the developer to bring the Flight Simulator series back to the fore in great pomp. The result is exceptional and the most famous flight simulator puts on paper its superiority once again, thanks to unimaginable technologies even just 10 years ago. You are all invited on board: make yourself comfortable (but not too much) and enjoy the flight from start to finish.

7.6 / 10.0 - Mortal Shell
Sep 4, 2020

Mortal Shell is a remarkable bead, which does not require too much effort and gives considerable satisfaction. The combat system typical of the soulslike, combined with the sector of cryptic indirect narrative (also typical of the Souls) could immediately make us think of a soulless clone of the noble From Software saga, but a pinch of sensitivity is enough to quickly realize that Mortal Shell manages to deepen the known formula in its own way, giving a truly personal vision of the decayed and darkish world that invites everyone to explore. The result of the work of the developers is excellent, does not require a great deal of effort and is greatly enjoyable both for fans of the Souls saga, for whom the game takes the shape of a must play, and for newbies passionate about dark fantasy, which they will be able to enjoy the successful atmospheres created with wisdom. A Foundling has taken on the role of four warriors to fulfill his dark destiny, what are you waiting for to immerse yourself in the dark Fallgrimm of Mortal Shell?

7.1 / 10.0 - Project CARS 3
Sep 27, 2020

Project Cars 3 is a welcome surprise: thanks to a solid and well-made technical apparatus, the title moves away from its historical simulation characterization to take a path capable of offering the player a lighter and simpler atmosphere, resulting a genuinely fun game that youngs and olds will enjoy, both longtime fans and enthusiasts of the genre, and newbies who are for the first time on a track. The engines have been hot for a while, getting on board and giving gas is now almost a duty.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Stonethorn is a content that features bleak lows as priceless highs: the offer is simply two new dungeons with related sets of armor, and if exploring the first is not so satisfying, completing the second is a glorious undertaking. The Dark Heart of Skyrim still has a card to play to wrap up its annual content cycle, and after the magnificence of Castle Thorn I wonder what the future holds for us to take stock of this bloody annual experience on The Elder Scrolls Online.

7.4 / 10.0 - Partisans 1941
Nov 1, 2020

The work of Alter Games is excellent and to be promoted: the peculiar setting and the atmosphere are the strengths of a game that stands on very solid foundations of RTS gameplay. It’s an experience that everyone can have, and if even veterans of the genre don’t find an adequate challenge, they will still be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere that Partisans 1941 offers. A completely different matter is for newbies, who will be able to look out on a real bead of this kind and also have experience of an interesting topic treated like few other times.

Nov 9, 2020

The whole essence of the title revolves precisely around its desire to bring back to our times a title of 16 years ago: without having these premises in mind, the risk is to see only the defects that the game undeniably brings with it: a simplistic graphics sector and a gameplay that is far too canonical as it is fluid, these are only one side of the coin, while on the other there is a really commendable work by the developers to give birth to what is a real remake. Long-time fans of the series, however small and rare these are in the West, will find in Oneechanbara Origins a heart-warming return worthy of the best nostalgia operation, while those who didn’t know the franchise will be able to get closer to it thanks to this production and get a culture about it. No, I never thought I would say "get a culture" about a girl in a bikini and a cowboy hat who cuts zombies like fallow, but I suppose that this is just the magic of Oneechanbara.

This recent WOW expansion has everything it needs to stay within the MMORPG’s story: an epic story supported by a valid and varied campaign, that will lead us to explore many new settings, a new job and progression system, new factions and so much more. All of this, within the always magical frame provided by Blizzard. The result is a perfect circle all way around.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Markarth manages to establish itself as a top quality content capable of more than closing the year on ESO. The crowning glory of Dark Heart of Skyrim comes in a complete and conscious way, with developers managing to focus on the narrative and single player systems that have been missing for a while on ESO. The closing of the chapter makes us reflect on what has passed in the last year, and it can be said without doubt that it has been a great year for ESO. My argonian, myself and the entire editorial staff of Serial Gamer Italia are proud to have taken part in this adventure and we can't wait to experience the next ones. The Next Gen has now started on consoles and our mouths are watering just thinking about what this generational change will mean for The Elder Scrolls Online.

7.9 / 10.0 - Spirit of the North
Nov 26, 2020

Spirit of the North is a work of excellent quality, which is worth playing on both PS4 and PS5. Its Enhanced Edition is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the gaming experience on next gen, and in addition to giving credit to the work of the developers, it greatly improves practically every part of the adventure, with particular results in the graphics sector. The goal is therefore centered and whether it is your first trip, whether it is the umpteenth time that you find yourself traveling through the snow-capped mountains, Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is an opportunity to be seized immediately, and now everyone has the possibility to do it on next gen thanks to the work of Infuse Studio. The mountains will be cold and the valleys will be lonely, but following the fox is a great way to make sense of the journey.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light turns out to be a good product along the lines of Shadowkeep. We are facing a standalone chapter that introduces a new year in the Bungie universe with many new features and not without some gray area, often due to lack of care in the writing phase. The new subclass is interesting and we hope it is only the beginning of a cycle of large implementations in this sense. The hunting season begins a totally new chapter for the world of Destiny 2 and the foundations to give important twists to the plot and gameplay are all there: it will be up to Bungie with the next updates to make the MMORPG still alive and thriving with news and pepper. We on the Tower always look at the horizon waiting for what will come, this time even beyond that bulky balloon and beyond its light.

8.4 / 10.0 - Haven
Dec 8, 2020

Armed with a charismatic artistic direction, excellent in every part, and supported by a varied gameplay which makes it impossible to get bored, Haven is, in conclusion, a refined game capable of entering the list of most succesful titles of the year and which blends will leave its mark for long. The Game Bakers’ work strikes for its delicate narrative with blends perfectly with the gameplay and the artistic compartament, all three almost creating a well balanced and light dance.

6.2 / 10.0 - War Truck Simulator
Feb 7, 2021

In conclusion, we are faced with a simple work but with ambitions: the developers have focused a lot on the gameplay, which is genuinely fun and engaging, with its ease and directness. On the other hand, the graphics sector is the main limitation of the product: however technically stable, the glance is heavily sacrificed and honestly crude: a second side of the coin that is really dark and punishing. War, on the other hand, is war and substance will always be more important than form. We might as well get on board the truck and start doing our job.

This Dead Cells DLC completely passes the test. The Motion Twins devs had already created a solid game with the first Dead Cells, and this DLC only enriches it further with its new expansion. New players, just like the old timers, will be able to experience something fun which will satisfy the eyes with the amazing artistic compartment but especially the player’s want for a challenge.

The latest effort by Gust and Koei Tecmo is still promoted, as it really takes a step forward compared to the previous chapter. Even in the face of the limitations of the plot and some uncertainty in terms of the graphics sector, the product is completely satisfactory and offers players exactly what they expect. There is no reason to be disappointed: Atelier Ryza 2 doesn’t risk anything and can only win, and indeed it is. The future of the series is assured and even this latest entry does nothing but consolidate the tracks that are already extremely solid. We, for our part, will stay on board and see where the Atelier saga will take us, perhaps still in the company of the solar Ryza Stout.

Kill It With Fire is an idea that hits really hard and leaves the player wondering what madness has hit him, but it doesn't take much and the storm passes away. The longevity of a work like this is obviously decided by the user, and with Kill It With Fire the desire to go on killing spiders will arise spontaneously in each of us. It isn’t a question of being afraid of spiders or feeling disgusted: we have an entire city as an arsenal at our disposal, and destroying our enemy in the most fun way possible is a moral duty.

8.1 / 10.0 - Dry Drowning
Mar 10, 2021

In short, playing Dry Drowning is a pleasure from all points of view: from the purely playful side, the title of Studio v proposes a visual novel formula with shades of Noir and Thriller perfectly amalgamated into a narrative that fascinates from the first moment, accompanied by an artistic sector that is simply amusing, while from the most introspective and mentally stimulating part, the game offers settings that seem to cling to us in a vice of raw realism cloaked in a dystopia that moves away from us but not too much: within these the characters and our consciences move together with theirs. Nova Polemos is truly an exasperated version of our cities, and the dilemmas that Mordred foley faces are, under a terribly human magnifying glass, the same ones we are subjected every day. Society, morals, interest are the bonds that we must bring into life as in Dry Drowning. Under the aegis of which of these will we take our steps within one of the most interesting games of recent years? And in our lives?
