Since the release of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in 2004, developers—including Nintendo—have searched for the next big hit, and with Escape from Ever After, Sleepy Castle Studio delivers a charming yet deep RPG that lovingly honors its inspiration while offering strong writing, rich gameplay systems, colorful worlds, a fantastic soundtrack, and only minor flaws.

MIO: Memories in Orbit is a beautiful Metroidvania with strong world-building and clever design that will appeal to genre fans, but its overly slow pacing sometimes undermines an otherwise memorable experience.

Big Hops delivers solidly crafted core systems and joyful 3D platforming with cozy visuals that make hopping around feel great, but a lack of tight level design, engaging narrative, and long-term incentives holds it back, resulting in a typical 3D platformer debut that showcases both Luckshot Games’ strong potential and clear growing pains.

My biggest criticism of ROUTINE is simply that I wanted far more of it, because Lunar Software’s intensely atmospheric, stunningly designed, uniquely immersive and impeccably sounding horror experience boldly strays from every genre convention—even if its intentional obscurity can frustrate—resulting in one of the most distinctive and exhilarating horror titles you can play.

Total Chaos storms into 2025 as a brutally faithful reimagining of the 2018 mod, delivering a suffocating story, panic-drenched combat and relentless pacing that eclipse its rough edges and leave the horror lingering long after you’ve put down the controller.

Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road is a light, quirky, budget-friendly jack-of-all-trades that shines in short bursts but repeats itself too often to earn knighthood.

Compared to Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated and The Cosmic Shake, Titans of the Tide shows Purple Lamp’s big leap forward with its heartfelt, dynamic duo-driven platforming and richer levels, though technical issues, missing QoL touches, and Day One DLC hold this otherwise delightful SpongeBob adventure back from reaching a true Best Day Ever.

EA and PopCap had the perfect chance to let Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted bloom, yet what we got feels more like a neglected garden. The timeless strategy gameplay still holds up, and the game overflows with content, but odd design choices ruin the experience. With worse graphics, missing dynamic music, and a confused interface, this port strips away the soul of the original. Replanted is a reminder that the old Plants vs. Zombies (GOTY Edition) offers far more life for far less money.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 is easily the strongest entry in the series, offering a fantastic sandbox mode, rich campaign, and smart building tools—yet ironically stumbles to evolve in key areas, with repetitive gameplay and missing fan-favorite dinos that may leave skeptics unmoved, even as longtime players will find plenty to roar about. Frontier, after careful consideration, I've decided to endorse your park!

Metal Eden is Reikon Games’ dazzling cyberpunk FPS paradise - blazing fast, stylishly brutal, and unforgettable, even if its chaotic UI, brief campaign, and occasional stutters slightly chip the neon polish.

Hell is Us is a demanding, flawed yet strikingly original experience that rewards patient players with fun combat, clever puzzles, and a thematically rich world, even as its slow start, uneven presentation, and rigid design constantly test their resolve.

The Knightling is a triumphant achievement for Twirlbound and Saber Interactive—a vibrant indie gem that blends stellar 3D platforming, emotional open-world exploration, and a joyful audiovisual experience into one crown-worthy adventure, with only minor flaws in combat and side quest variety barely dulling the shine of a game that inspires and delights from start to finish.

Despite its mechanical simplicity, slow pacing, and limited gameplay evolution, Herdling stands out as an indie that leaves a lasting emotional impact—thanks to Okomotive’s beautiful audiovisual storytelling, its touching journey of guiding creatures to safety, and impresses not through mechanics, but through heart.

Wildgate is a complex game to recommend. Its deep, well-integrated systems offer a unique multiplayer experience, but its steep learning curve, lack of matchmaking balance, and aggressive monetization make it a tough sell unless you're fully invested in its design.

Dotemu and The Game Kitchen deliver a solid homage to the roots of classic action-platformers with Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound - sharp as ever in gameplay, nostalgic to the core, but lacking the surprise and staying power to truly stand out in this triumphant year of the ninja.

Despite some entertaining and brutal core gameplay, Killing Floor 3 is a thematically inconsistent and visually underwhelming shooter with generic design, repetitive missions, performance issues, and an intrusive in-game shop - an unfinished product, and one that Tripwire Interactive may need several more years to truly bring up to standard. The core is here, it just needs a lot of work.

My Friendly Neighborhood, a twisted love letter to classic survival horror inspired by Resident Evil, blends clever storytelling, brilliant level design, and sharp puzzles with slightly stiff combat and loads of silly cheats and bonus modes—making it a great horror game that even Oscar the Grouch couldn’t grumble about.

RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business is a stand-alone title where Teyon addresses past criticisms but still earns a ticket for its compromises. The focus shifts to intense police brutality in a faster-paced FPS, with quicker access to action and tougher foes. However, limited freedom and lingering technical flaws make the world feel less immersive—though bursts of action still showcase Teyon at its best.
