Hypercharged: Unboxed is an ambitious project from a small team with a strong vision that is mostly realized, albeit with some struggles along the way.
XDefiant does a lot of things right. The authentic representation of some of Ubisoft’s most iconic franchises will undoubtedly get people in the door while the fluid and responsive combat ensures any arcade shooter fan has a good time while they are here.
In the end, the spectacular presentation, fantastical world, and charming characters were enough to carry me through the game’s overly long and slow start, as well as look past the very limited aspects of its gameplay.
Overall, I loved my time with Helldivers 2. The most exciting thing for me, though, is how well-positioned this game is to deliver into the future.
All of the elements fans loved from Spider-Man and Miles Morales are carried forward, along with many improvements along the way. The combination of which was handled wonderfully by the skilled hands at Insomniac Studios.
Wild Card Football is an interesting attempt in the return of arcade football, although it too often feels like a half step.
Sea of Stars is more than just the sum of its parts. It's an unmissable experience for anyone who’s ever enjoyed a 16/32 bit RPG.
Minecraft Legends stays true to Minecraft's core principals while offering a truly unique PvP experience.
The two sides of the game meld wonderfully together, while the fascinating world and story on offer serve up just enough to pull you along until the end.
If you are coming into this as a curious fan of the Souls series, there are a lot of commonalities that may be intriguing, but those are merely accents to what is truly a classic Team Ninja experience.
The Knight Witch is a story-driven, flying Metroidvania shoot ’em up deck builder RPG. You may think that is a weird combination that couldn’t possibly go together, like putting peanut butter on a hamburger. However, in both cases you would be wrong as these many different components come together to form a very pleasant experience that is more than the sum of its parts.
Overall Modern Warfare 2 has managed to recapture a lot of what made the original Modern Warfare 2 such a smash hit. The campaign can be held up among the series’ best and the multiplayer feels like a refined version of the core Call of Duty experience that helped create this juggernaut of a franchise way back in 2009.
Overall, Marvel Snap is a very fun way to spend two to three minutes repeatedly throughout the day, and it is a fine example of how to take advantage of the unique aspects of gaming on the go.
The understanding of what made Kingdom Battle great is shown by the teams at Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Paris, and their clear expertise on how to enhance each and every aspect of it, while also making great additions, positions Sparks of Hope as one of the best video game sequels of all time.
While this might not be a “true” sequel to some, it very well could be a great new experience for someone else. A lot of thought and care has gone into refreshing the Overwatch experience, resulting in a compelling reason to jump back in for old fans and new players alike.
This game has layers that I won’t go into in this review, because the moment that you get to peek behind the curtain deserves to be experienced first hand. It’s an experience that I didn’t see coming and will likely never forget.
On its surface, Moo Lander is a silly game with a silly premise. However, behind that bovine exterior is a surprisingly good experience.
While the presentation has some peaks and valleys, the game’s level design, platforming, and combat should surely grant this Kangaroo a seat at the table right next to the bandicoot and purple dragon that clearly inspired it.
The charm of Kirby and the Forgotten Land never wore out through the entirety of my 20+ hours with the game, and it took Nintendo’s New Donk City aesthetic to the next level.
It is somewhat odd to make such drastic changes in design for a game on its third entry, but what they set out to accomplish they did with flying colors.
