Sweet Transit is an enjoyable city-building strategy game in which the proper functioning of the railroads is the be-all and end-all. The game stands out for its relaxed and intuitive gameplay combined with railroad and city management. The pace of the game is relatively slow at first, but once it picks up, you’ll find yourself at a stage where you’re simply fulfilling the desires of your city’s residents—both in terms of the attractiveness of the environment and the economic aspects. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a well-crafted JRPG based on the popular Suikoden series. The game offers an engaging story that doesn’t revolve solely around the main character, but branches out to include other characters and their perspectives on the situation. Storytelling and the large cast of characters are among the game’s cornerstones. It’s a solid retro JRPG that’s sure to captivate players, and as such, it’s a worthy successor to Suikoden.

DayZ is an interesting PvP/PvE survival game that, compared to the competition these days, doesn’t offer anything particularly exceptional. The game’s outdated graphics and certain mechanics are clearly evident. However, what definitely keeps it in the spotlight is its active player community and modders. If you’re looking for an online game where you’ll battle other players who might be lurking in any building, big or small, and you enjoy survival games regardless of the visuals, you’ll have fun with DayZ.

Myth of Empires is an enjoyable third-person MMORPG with survival elements that takes you back to the era of ancient feudal China. You can choose whether to play on PvP or PvE servers, or even solo. It’s a solid title from the East that features a vast world where there’s always something to do. However, you’ll need to set aside plenty of time for the game, because even with a group of friends, everything takes an incredibly long time here.

The Solus Project is an enjoyable exploration-based walking simulator that aims to compellingly blend story and survival elements. Unfortunately, it falls short in this regard and doesn’t offer what other similar titles in its category do. The story and its narrative do offer some interesting moments, even though they’re scattered throughout what is mostly a monotonous journey from point A to point B. This is clearly a case of wasted potential, and it is definitely not a full-fledged survival horror game.

ELDEN RING: Shadow of the Erdtree is an absolutely fantastic expansion to the already phenomenal ELDEN RING. The DLC fits perfectly into the ELDEN RING universe and brilliantly expands the lore. It also introduces breathtaking new locations, epic battles against new bosses, and a wide variety of new weapons and gear. In terms of content, ELDEN RING: Shadow of the Erdtree clearly surpasses some full-fledged games and is an absolute must-have for every ELDEN RING player.

Kerbal Space Program 2 was supposed to be a worthy successor to the first game, a fantastic space sandbox simulator. However, the title was marred by numerous early development errors that continue to cause problems to this day. Kerbal Space Program 2 definitely has a lot to offer, but because many known bugs remain unresolved even a year after its release into Early Access, and according to the latest information, the future of the development studio (and the development process) is still uncertain, I cannot recommend the game at this stage. I would rather opt for Kerbal Space Program 1 or wait until the full version of the game is released.

Manor Lords is a fantastic building strategy game set in the late 14th century in what is now Bavaria. The game is more of a simulation of everyday life in a medieval fiefdom. The combination of building strategy with war elements reminiscent of Total War works brilliantly and raises the bar yet again. On top of that, everything feels incredibly organic and lively. The Burgage Plots system is brilliantly implemented, and the atmosphere is further enhanced by excellent graphics and sound design. This game has tremendous potential, and if everything goes well, it will undoubtedly become a huge time sink. For me, it’s the biggest surprise of the year.

Contra: Operation Galuga is a fantastic return to the classic 2D run-and-gun shoot ’em up genre, in the legendary style of the NES Contra. The new visual style suits the game perfectly, and everything is enhanced by the series’ signature soundtrack. The game also features several new levels, a rogue-lite-style Perk Shop, and weapon upgrades. This nostalgic experience is slightly marred by finicky control settings that require frequent re-saving and the need to use a controller during co-op play. However, if you’re a Contra fan and aren’t put off by the higher price, this game definitely won’t disappoint you.

King Arthur: Legion IX is a well-crafted tactical RPG featuring turn-based combat from an isometric perspective that makes excellent use of the universe of the original game, King Arthur: Knight's Tale. The story, which involves the lost Roman Ninth Legion, is well-written, and the game skillfully weaves together Christian, Celtic, and Roman mythology. Compared to the original game, the character skill tree is a bit simpler here, yet each character remains unique thanks to their own ultimate ability. The difficulty has also been significantly increased; the AI does an excellent job of maneuvering its units and presenting you with real challenges. The game features a very pleasant, intuitive interface, and if you enjoyed King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, you’ll be right at home. Unfortunately, compared to its predecessor, it does feel somewhat austere.

TopSpin 2K25 marks a welcome return for the famous tennis series. The career mode is really well done; gaining experience and improving your player feels satisfying, as does the need to manage fatigue and exhaustion to prevent injuries. What might be a bit of a letdown for some players, however, is the somewhat more complex keyboard controls. The players’ visuals also don’t quite live up to expectations, but fortunately, the game’s on-court visuals and gameplay more than make up for it.

Classified: France '44 is an enjoyable turn-based tactical RPG set during World War II in Nazi-occupied France. It draws inspiration from major titles in the genre, which is certainly no bad thing. Unfortunately, it has also inherited some of their flaws, such as the possibility of missing an enemy at close range despite a 90% chance of hitting. Replayability is enhanced by the fact that France is divided into several regions controlled by three local factions, each offering different bonuses. Likewise, the character classes and their skill trees, with various specialization options, allow you to play the game in your own style. However, the game is held back by technical issues that still need to be fixed. For fans of the genre, this is a title that will definitely keep you entertained.

Praetorians – HD Remaster brings this once-successful RTS back with a new HD makeover, making it more visually appealing to today’s players. However, in addition to its improved visuals, the game also carries over the same flaws found in the original. Despite its shortcomings, it’s an enjoyable RTS that can really challenge the minds of die-hard strategists. Unfortunately, many modern players will find the game lacking in dynamism and rather tedious.

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is an enjoyable real-time strategy game set in the fantastic Terminator universe. However, as you play, you’ll constantly feel a sense of constraint and untapped potential that the game clearly had. It’s nice, it’s good, but in the realm of RTS titles, it’s a solid average—it won’t offend anyone, but it doesn’t particularly stand out either.

The Thaumaturge is an intriguing story-driven RPG with an isometric perspective and turn-based combat, set in an alternate history of 1905 and taking place in Warsaw. Great emphasis is placed on the story and conversations, and dialogue choices can influence the overall direction of the plot. Acquiring new salutors, completing side quests, and exploring Warsaw are enjoyable and entertaining. However, the combat system is minimalist, and the combat style doesn’t vary much. The lack of equipment upgrades and the emphasis on dialogue may not be to everyone’s taste. Nevertheless, it’s definitely an interesting title with a unique setting that will entertain all fans of story-driven RPGs.

Kapital: Sparks of Revolution is a visually impressive city-building strategy game set in the post-World War I era. The game offers a collection of interesting ideas with an emphasis on decision-making and managing limited resources. However, it is let down by the failure to fully develop some of its great ideas and the absence of important elements and metrics that are essential for managing the economy. Furthermore, some of the mechanics do not function quite correctly.

Ghostrunner 2 is undoubtedly a worthy sequel to the first game. It features several new ideas, and the developers have made a noticeable effort to improve some of the mechanics carried over from the original. Most of the changes are for the better, but there are also elements that don’t quite fit the game’s concept. You can look forward to great dynamic gameplay, fantastic parkour, and challenging combat where you have to carefully choose the most effective path to your goal. Add to that the impressive graphics and a fantastic soundtrack, and you’re in for a treat.
