Urbek City Builder is a very enjoyable city-building strategy game that offers a unique take on organic urban growth. Managing resources comprehensively rather than focusing on financial results is definitely a welcome change. The socioeconomic impacts and watching how your city changes based on meeting the needs of different social classes are impressive. While the voxel graphics may not be for everyone, if you’re a fan of the genre, definitely give the game a chance—you won’t be disappointed.

Project Hospital is undoubtedly a gem in its genre. Thanks to its clear focus on realism and the actual workings of a hospital, it is a highly successful building strategy game that impresses and entertains with its approach and execution. At a certain point, however, like other titles in this category, it can become a bit monotonous, especially once you’ve encountered every possible illness, injury, or other health issue. There are, however, an incredible number of these in the game, so that won’t happen anytime soon.

Clanfolk is a charming building strategy game in which you take care of your clan of Scottish highlanders. You must teach them everything from the ground up, look after their health, ensure they have enough food and drink, and, of course, meet other basic needs such as mood, cleanliness, and the need for social interaction. The biggest challenge is the first winter—if you manage to meet their basic needs and don’t make any mistakes, you’ll enter a simple cycle of gathering and collecting resources. It’s a purely peaceful game, with no skirmishes or dangers that would threaten your community. The greatest danger here, then, is meeting basic human needs.

Evil West is a well-crafted action-adventure game with a brisk pace, a linear storyline, and plenty of action that you’ll really enjoy. The combat system will win you over after a while, and you’ll find yourself looking forward to more and more action. An interesting mix of enemies, which you can take down with your arsenal and a wide range of special abilities, guarantees that you won’t get bored with the game. While the story does become predictable after a while, combined with the gameplay, setting, atmosphere, and action, this is a well-made title that will definitely keep you entertained. This isn’t Cookie Clicker—this is action!

Outlast is undoubtedly one of the legendary titles in its genre today. The protagonist’s helplessness, the well-placed scripted events, and the use of light and shadow are simply perfect. The jump scares, the atmosphere of the psychiatric hospital, and the patients themselves really elevate this game.

Against The Storm is undoubtedly one of the best games I’ve had the chance to review this year. This city-building strategy game with rogue-lite elements brings depth, elegance, and sophistication to a truly unique experience. The beautiful art style will simply blow you away, and once you grasp all the game’s elements and mechanics, this title will undoubtedly become a time-sink. However, this can also be a bit of a pitfall—there’s simply so much perfection here that the initial learning curve can take several hours.

Stranded: Alien Dawn is a very well-made survival-building strategy game that places a strong emphasis on the composition of your group of survivors, their skills, and the appropriate division of tasks. It’s clear that the game is still in development, as evidenced by some minor technical glitches. Even so, however, even in its current early access phase, it is a very well-made title that will definitely delight every fan of the genre.

I would definitely recommend DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS to fans of the series, because they’ll appreciate the game much more than someone who doesn’t know what Dragon Ball is all about. However, the developers also took into account that their game doesn’t have to be just for fans of the universe. Thanks to this, DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a new, fun cooperative game, as this project doesn’t require any prior knowledge of the series. If you have seven friends who love Dragon Ball and can jump in with you, you’re all set. Unfortunately, the lack of crossplay and communication between players does reduce the game’s appeal. It doesn’t help that you can’t kick toxic players out. At the same time, some people might not like that this game relies on a gacha system.

Indoorlands is undoubtedly a unique take on the tycoon genre; you can build your own indoor amusement park and manage it effectively. With its user-friendly interface and gameplay, it’s a game suitable even for beginners to the genre. As with other tycoon games, however, you should expect a certain level of simplicity here, which will likely only entertain you until you’ve tried all the attractions. Although a few bugs cropped up during gameplay, it’s still a game that’s definitely entertaining and serves as a great starting point if you want to move on to more complex tycoon games.

Overall, the game world is well-developed, offering a wide variety of melee and ranged weapons, plenty of crafting materials, and loot. This is truly a solid, old-school RPG with a wealth of side quests and an engaging main story featuring two different endings. Also worth mentioning is the diverse range of enemies, each with their own specific attacks and movements. Despite certain shortcomings in the AI and some technical rough edges, Seven: Enhanced Edition is a well-made stealth title that is definitely worth checking out.

Expeditions: Rome builds on the reputation of a great series, but raises the bar even higher. The game’s story is set in the historical setting of ancient Rome, and it makes excellent use of this to its advantage. At the same time, you can influence the course of history based on your actions and conversations. It’s a very well-executed combination of RPG and tactical strategy, with beautiful graphics. I encountered a few occasional graphical glitches while playing, but they weren’t significant enough to affect the overall enjoyment of the game. It’s clear that the developers really put a lot of effort into this game.

Intravenous is a precise, tactical stealth shooter with an isometric perspective that clearly pays homage to the early Splinter Cell games. If you enjoy solid stealth gameplay and working with lighting, but also want a bit of a challenge, this game is definitely for you.

Stories Untold is a fascinating return to the good old days of text-based adventure games. It’s an intriguing experiment that starts off strong and draws you into a mysterious world full of puzzles, but ends with a rude awakening. The puzzles and the atmosphere as you solve them will literally consume you, which is also the game’s main draw. On the other hand, the conclusion in the fourth episode—in the form of a walking simulator—was a huge disappointment for me, especially since it was the final episode. Unfortunately, the story is rather bland, and at a certain point, you’re really only playing because you enjoy solving the puzzles, even though you can already guess how the story will end.

Lost Judgment is a fantastic sequel to the first game, once again putting you in the shoes of the suave private detective Takayuki Yagami. Compared to the previous game, the story offers a far more sophisticated plot and storyline that will make you feel like you’re in the middle of a first-class Japanese thriller. Thanks to refined gameplay and even better combat mechanics, along with the addition of side stories, the game clearly stands out from the Yakuza series even more than the first installment.

Unfortunately, Blood Rage: Digital Edition doesn’t quite live up to the quality of its board game counterpart. The game’s core mechanics work well, and at its core, it does offer some of what the board game version provides. However, the graphics are quite lackluster at certain stages and moments, and the user interface can be a bit of a struggle. The original version is undoubtedly one of the best board games on the market, but the digital adaptation is riddled with bugs and, above all, poor design choices. You’ll only truly enjoy the game if you have a great deal of patience or are a die-hard gamer who wants to play against the AI.

Ancestors Legacy is an enjoyable game set during the Golden Age of the Vikings. It’s an RTS that borrows mechanics from Company of Heroes and tries to use them to its advantage, which it manages to do quite well. However, aside from certain elements and the game’s setting, it lacks true originality, and in some respects, you’ll feel like something is missing. This is especially true since, in some sections, you’re playing more of a story-driven stealth strategy game and are largely limited by assigned units for most of the time. It’s definitely not a game that isn’t worth trying, though, and fans of this genre will surely enjoy it.

Judgment is a very well-done port that didn’t disappoint and is truly impressive. While playing, I didn’t encounter any optimization issues, crashes, or anything like that. Visually, the game is truly appealing and full of detail. The only thing I could criticize regarding the port and controls is an occasional issue with the controls when playing with a keyboard and mouse. However, this doesn’t happen frequently—only in certain situations—and all you need to do is move slightly to realign the camera and character as needed. Yagami’s story, the game’s execution, pacing, and concept are definitely worth overlooking this minor flaw. In return, you’ll get fantastic entertainment from the world of Yakuza, which will pull you into its clutches and won’t let go.

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed can proudly be counted among the ranks of highly successful remakes that will simply thrill you if you’re a fan of the genre. Crypto returns with improved graphics and brings with him sarcastic humor, crazy action gameplay, ruthless villains, and a beautiful KGB agent, along with a colorful array of alien weapons and gadgets. On your quest for fun and adventure, you’ll visit several countries and cities where you can wreak havoc as you please. And that’s exactly what this game is all about—don’t look for any logic or depth here; just unwind and have fun.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is a well-crafted PvP tactical shooter that holds its own against the big titles in the genre. Unlike them, however, it places a strong emphasis on atmosphere and tactical thinking. It’s more of a hardcore multiplayer shooter built on clearly defined gameplay principles, mechanics, modes, and maps. However, this isn’t a game for everyone—if you’re looking for an arena shooter with nonstop shooting, running, and jumping, you won’t find it here. On the contrary, it’s important to think through every move you make, and it’s also wise to carefully plan your gear and the strategy you’ll use to take down your opponents.

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is a highly polished action RPG with roguelike elements. As a sequel to the first game, it does an excellent job of incorporating Lovecraft’s legacy and the Cthulhu Mythos. The game features six playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as special abilities, unique gear, weapons, and items. You can change the characters’ gear, which immediately affects their visual style and stats. The game features procedurally generated locations, making every playthrough unique, including enemy placement. This aspect adds to the game’s replayability, thanks in part to the excellent graphics, which combine a hand-drawn and comic book style. Taking down a diverse horde of enemies happens at a brisk pace and will definitely entertain both fans of isometric action shooters and lovers of Lovecraft and a good story.
