Tenebris Somnia is one of the most original horror games of the year. Complex puzzles in the style of classic adventure games, stunning pixel art, and superbly executed live-action scenes come together to create a combination you won’t find anywhere else, and the story—about a cult, filmmaking, and a relationship falling apart—keeps you glued to the screen until the very end. However, the game lacks precision in combat, and the lead actress’s emotionless performance takes away some of the tension. If you’re a fan of classic survival horror games and enjoy giving your brain a workout, this title is definitely worth checking out—preferably around Halloween.

Valor Mortis is a very successful debut for One More Level in the soulslike genre. The satisfying combat system, which combines swordplay, firearms, and supernatural powers, works great from a first-person perspective, and the lore built through notes and visions from the past is more engaging than the story itself. However, the game lacks freedom in exploration, the controls take some getting used to, and the graphics don’t quite live up to what you’d expect from a game released in 2026. If you’re a fan of soulslikes and are looking for something fresh, this title is definitely worth a try, especially at such an affordable price.

Minecraft Dungeons II is a sequel that set out to be bigger in every way, but forgot that bigger doesn’t always mean better. The open world is convoluted and empty, the multi-level navigation suffers from poorly implemented collision detection, and the story is too simple to hold your interest for long. It’s saved by a huge variety of weapons, an extensive inventory, the stunning Sift, and great co-op. If you have someone to play with, you’ll find a few enjoyable evenings here, but if you’re playing solo, you’re definitely better off waiting for patches and sales.

CONTROL Resonant shows us that Remedy is definitely still at the top of its game and can tackle any genre. CONTROL Resonant delivers a great story wrapped in phenomenal level design and a combat system that provides hours of fantastic gameplay. Nocturne is my biggest surprise of the year. An outstanding story about the search for one’s own identity, brotherhood, friendship, and the struggle for society. The game also features one of the most diverse soundtracks of the year, which nonetheless blends seamlessly into a perfectly harmonious mix of musical styles. Combined with the stunning visuals, I was treated to something truly exceptional. Games like this don’t come along very often.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a very good action game that suffers from a fair amount of unnecessary repetition. Despite this significant flaw, it offers plenty of enjoyable gameplay that’s both spectacular and challenging, especially on higher difficulty levels. If you’re a fan of this kind of gameplay, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained for hours.

Unfortunately, Beast of Reincarnation is a complete failure for Game Freak. Graphics straight out of the last decade, unresponsive controls, bugs, and performance issues are just a few of the elements that work against this game. I’m incredibly sad about this, because the game had enormous potential before its release, which was completely destroyed when we received the final product.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a very good fighting game that, despite a few missteps in the narrative, delivers phenomenal and dynamic gameplay, a diverse cast of characters, and a wide variety of content that will keep fans of the genre and Marvel fans entertained for hours on end. If fighting games are your thing, Tōkon is a must-buy.

Splatoon Raiders is a solid entry in the series, but in my opinion, it’s designed solely for fans and won’t be able to draw in anyone from outside the series. However, if you loved the previous Splatoon games, you’ll feel right at home here—just without the intense competition.

Star Fox is a very good attempt to recreate a classic Nintendo game, but the new version reminds us that the old gameplay model doesn’t work quite as well today as it did in the ’90s. Is 007 First Light a good James Bond story? Absolutely. But is it a good game? Of course it is. It’s a great blend of stealth and action with a very cinematic story that could easily fit into the main movie series. IOI really gets the character and the universe, and I hope they get the chance to make a sequel despite the obvious hints in the game.

Arknights: Endfield is a very good game, but unfortunately, the initial pace is quite slow. If you can get through the tedious first two hours, you'll find yourself playing a great RPG with an automation theme. At times, you might even forget that this is a gacha game, because it's so enjoyable in this regard that it doesn't push these elements to the forefront.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a decent game, but after many years of waiting, it didn't quite live up to all my expectations. Sure, the gameplay is top-notch, and the graphics and music are excellent, but the story leaves a lot to be desired, and some design decisions could have been better thought out. However, if you're a fan of Samus' adventures, you'll definitely have fun with Beyond.

Project Motor Racing is one of the worst releases of 2025. A racing game released at the price of a big-budget title, it is in worse shape than some games that are released in Early Access. Tragic optimization, hopeless AI, poor graphics and UI, and the lack of a visual damage system are some of the most important elements that drag this game down to failure.

Kirby Air Riders is a racing game packed with tons of content, but the gameplay itself could have been better. However, if you don't mind the strange decisions regarding the controls, you'll find a game here that was created with passion. If you're someone who loves to max out games, you'll be in heaven here.
