The developers made a ton of great decisions here, thanks to which Revelations comes close to being the perfect FPS. Of course, it can still be a bit of a drag with its unnecessary storyline—which DOOM needs about as much as a bald man needs a comb—but everything else is top-notch. It’s a brilliantly designed game that I had a blast playing, and I’m more than eager to return to it many times before the release of the next expansion—and, hopefully, the next installment in the series. I recommend Revelations to every DOOM fan and all lovers of fast-paced FPS games. You won’t be disappointed.

So, how does Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced ultimately stack up? Is it worth giving this game a chance? The answer is obvious: absolutely. The original Black Flag was already considered, at the time of its release, not only one of the best pirate games but also one of the best titles of that era. It’s a game that stole the hearts of players around the world and remains highly acclaimed to this day. Resynced, on the other hand, is an incredibly faithful adaptation of this classic for modern times. It offers more beautiful audiovisuals, streamlined combat, improved stealth elements, still-outstanding naval battles, and hours of truly great, fresh content.

Star Fox is a very good attempt to recreate a classic Nintendo game, but the new version reminds us that the old gameplay model doesn’t work quite as well today as it did in the ’90s. However, there’s no denying that the new Star Fox is still a solid game that offers a cinematic story and new content that fans filled with nostalgia will particularly enjoy.

On the one hand, Solarpunk is just another generic building sandbox game; on the other hand, however, it undeniably has a unique atmosphere and incredibly relaxing gameplay that can keep you hooked for a good twenty hours—or even more. The game captivates with its aesthetics and stands on very solid foundations. However, considering that there are much larger and more elaborate titles of this type on the market, I don’t really see any reason to return to it regularly. It’s a game worth checking out out of sheer curiosity, but certainly not at its current, rather absurd price.

Is 007 First Light a good James Bond story? Absolutely. But is it a good game? Of course it is. It’s a great blend of stealth and action with a very cinematic story that could easily fit into the main movie series. IOI really gets the character and the universe, and I hope they get the chance to make a sequel despite the obvious hints in the game.

Is it worth buying Gothic 1 Remake if you loved the original or are just looking to dive into this world? My answer is: no. Or at least not right now. The remake is a terribly optimized game riddled with all sorts of bugs. In a few months, once the developers have fixed at least some of the issues—and the game itself may have dropped in price a bit—go ahead and head to the stores. Personally, I had a phenomenal time playing it and felt like that little kid in elementary school again, stepping into the Miners’ Valley for the very first time. The remake is great, and I can’t wait to give it another go, this time playing as the other side. I’m also really hoping that the revamped version of the sequel gets the green light. But is the remake better than the original, and is it worth choosing it over the original? To be honest, I see plenty of room for both titles to coexist on the market as equals. That way, you can play the timeless original one time and fire up the modern remake another time. Both games have their pros and cons, which defy the classic framework for evaluating games. And while I know I won’t convince the most die-hard fans, I still recommend that every fan of the series pick up this new version someday. As for newcomers who’d like to explore this universe for the first time? It’s definitely worth checking out the original, but all things considered, the remake—despite its distinctly retro gameplay and hardcore difficulty—seems like a much better starting point today.

The House Flipper Remastered Collection is undoubtedly the most comprehensive edition of this game. If you don’t own the original House Flipper, or if you have the base game with maybe one or two expansions at most, it’s definitely worth the investment. However, if you’ve had the full first-game package in your collection for a long time, I’d pause for a moment and seriously consider whether to buy it. At its core, it’s simply a remaster. It’s prettier, with better animations and a few new features, but in terms of gameplay and content, there are no major innovations here. It’s simply a more beautiful, more complete, and polished version of what we already know so well. I had a great time playing it and recommend this game to anyone who hasn’t had a chance to play it yet.

Sintopia is by no means a perfect game, let alone a perfect strategy game. However, it has its own unique style and charm that keeps you glued to the screen. The gameplay is a lot of fun and very satisfying, especially since there’s never a moment to catch your breath—you’re constantly thinking about how to improve automation and streamline all your processes. It’s an enjoyable game that sounds great, keeps you hooked for hours, and, most importantly, offers incredible replay value. Unfortunately, it still has significant technical shortcomings and needs a bit more time in the oven known as early access. What’s more, over time, the gameplay becomes so overwhelming that, aside from the biggest fans of this type of automation-based gameplay, it will put off more than a few players. Nevertheless, on the whole, it’s a fairly successful title, though far from perfect.

Forza Horizon 6 is the most comprehensive installment in the series to date. It’s a wonderful evolution of the familiar formula, though unfortunately there are no groundbreaking innovations here. The crown of the king of racing games shows no sign of slipping from Forza’s head, but the competition is hot on its heels. If, with the release of the seventh installment, you continue to play it safe, avoid taking risks, and don’t try something new, then next time, mere evolution and refinement of existing formulas might not be enough. Nevertheless, my final assessment of Forza Horizon 6 hasn’t changed one bit. It’s not just an excellent racing game, but an excellent game period. Forza Horizon 6 is a masterpiece in the world of racing games.

“Mixtape” is a great example of a well-made, if not quite phenomenal, production. This cinematic experience, which lasts just three hours, flies by in the blink of an eye, offering stunning visuals and sound. The characters, despite their archetypal nature, are simply impossible not to like, and the gameplay, despite its simplicity, remains inventive and is a ton of fun. However, one cannot escape the fact that, at its core, this is a rather shallow story that brazenly attempts to exploit nostalgia to evoke deeper emotions—with little success. It is also a story that, due to its atmosphere, won’t appeal to every audience member. Nevertheless, I believe it’s worth giving this game a chance.

I have a truly strange relationship with Saros. On the one hand, it’s a game I honestly hate and that has caused me endless frustration. On the other hand, it’s a game that rewards you even for your failures, and once you finally master the chaos on the screen, the sense of satisfaction from your progress is simply immense. It’s a game that, despite its rather bland supporting characters and a lack of deeper emotion in the plot itself, manages to draw you in with an incredibly engaging story full of intriguing mysteries. The world design is a true masterpiece created by talented artists, further enhanced by stunning visuals and brilliant sound design. To top it all off, the core gameplay itself, though incredibly exhausting most of the time, ultimately proves exceptionally satisfying. Saros is a fascinating paradox that’s hard to ignore.

Hozy is a simple and cozy game that doesn’t try to be anything more than a brief moment of respite. Hozy remains a title worth checking out, especially for those tired of the daily rush and games based on nonstop action. It’s a peaceful experience that lets you pause for a moment and simply relax. And everyone needs that from time to time, even if it’s not the perfect form of relaxation.

Mouse: P.I. for Hire is a very strong debut from Fumi Games. Despite a few issues with pacing and combat, it offers a solid story, phenomenal visuals, and a highly atmospheric soundtrack. If you enjoy noir-style games and boomer shooters, you’re sure to love this game.

Is Pragmata worth playing? Absolutely. While its sometimes challenging and unconventional approach to gameplay might seem overwhelming at first, it is precisely this complexity that is its greatest strength. It’s worth giving it a chance, because you’ll quickly find that it offers a wealth of satisfaction and great fun. It’s a game that hardly anyone was expecting, and its development went largely unnoticed in the mainstream—yet, as it turned out, it was the game everyone needed. Pragmata is this year’s dark horse, which will battle other heavyweights for the title of best game of the year. I have not the slightest doubt about that.

REPLACED is an unforgettable adventure that was well worth the wait all these years. It’s the perfect blend of a cinematic action-adventure set in a pixel-art world with a profound story about the division of society and the journey of self-discovery. Beautiful art style, a very good combat system, platforming elements, puzzles, and phenomenal music and cinematography come together to create a unique combination that makes this one of the best indie games of the year.

No Players Online is a game I’d like to recommend. Technically speaking, in terms of its mechanics and overall concept, it’s top-notch. However, I can’t ignore the chaotic and plot-hole-ridden storyline. That said, I can’t claim I didn’t have a good time during the three hours it took me to finish the game. That time flew by; the gameplay itself was a lot of fun, and the constant interplay of anxiety and nostalgia drew me in and allowed me to lose myself in the created world.

Ghost Master: Resurrection is a game that’s hard to judge definitively. On the one hand, it’s a very successful remake that faithfully recreates the original Ghost Master. It offers significantly revamped visuals, new missions, and additional content that’s set to be expanded further—albeit in the form of paid DLC. On the other hand, when viewed through the lens of today’s standards, it’s hard to overlook its shortcomings. Technical issues, poor optimization, and mediocre graphics mean that despite improvements over the original, the game still feels rather outdated.

The Walking Trade is a successful entry in the shop simulation genre that takes a fresh approach to the subject. One standout feature is the idea of sourcing goods yourself rather than ordering them from a wholesaler. The game also offers an interesting twist with its exploration mechanics and the need to defend your shop and customers against hordes of zombies. The game’s cohesive and consistent visual style also deserves praise; despite its simplicity, it remains pleasing to the eye. The whole experience is rounded out by a clear vision of the world and the way it’s presented.

Pokémon Pokopia is a wonderful and unique game that has already stolen hundreds of hours from me, and I know it will steal thousands more. It’s a visually and aurally stunning game, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to its merits. It’s a game brimming with emotion, warmth, and love that will warm even the coldest and harshest of hearts. And yet, it hides beneath the surface the unimaginable sadness and hopelessness of the entire situation. The core of the game, however, is very addictive. Repairing and rebuilding the world is incredibly fun and satisfying. Additionally, it allows you to create magnificent structures and regions where you’re limited only by your imagination. Pokémon Pokopia is one of those games that warps time. You sit down to play for a moment, feel like fifteen minutes have flown by, and when you look at your watch, it shows you that 16 hours have passed.

Cairn is an exceptionally well-made game. Difficult, demanding, and at times unforgiving, yet extremely satisfying and engaging. Paradoxically, it can also be relaxing. At the same time, it is a game that will evoke a wide range of emotions in us, and will most likely force us to reflect and ponder the meaning of the finale itself. It is also a game that is not without its flaws, but these can be forgiven in light of the rest of the game, which is extremely well done.
