From gameplay mechanics to art style, you can easily find the spirit of older well known titles here but Until We Die have taken all the good things it can and made a new satisfying experience with them.

It seems simplistic to think that the movement is restricted only either left or right. This restricted movement seems to be the fault of the entire game design. Since most of the mechanics of the game is time dependent, it forces the pace of the game and ultimately gets hit with boredom due to the long wait. The art style has a place in our sentimental memory but that’s the only aspect that seems to be above average. If you’re the type of gamer who likes any and every pixel art style games, then definitely give this game a go. If the game design were to add a little more edge from what it is now, could have become a much greater work of art.

It can leave your heart racing, and it can leave you stunned at the scenery, and, sometimes, it’ll leave you bewildered at how brutal the game can be, but ultimately, I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a diamond in the rough here. It’s gonna feel unpolished and early-access-ish with paltry menus, no saving, and only one map and two heroes to play as. Still, there’s a lot of potential here. But until a few content issues, save system complaints, and AI fine-tuning gets addressed, I can’t quite give Until We Die too much of a recommendation unless you find it on sale.
