Critic Reviews for Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy

Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy isn’t for everyone. But if you’re an adult gamer looking for something silly to pass the time with, I’d highly recommend it. Not only is it much more balanced than the first game (I even managed to beat the Arcade mode here), but the animation overall is higher quality, with better shading and less cartoony artwork. Plus, it allows multiplayer fun and streaming options. So if you’re a Switch owner looking for a new Shmup, look no further than Waifu Discovered 2!

For now, though, if you’re a fan of the “strip ’em up” subgenre — the origins of which we talked about earlier this week — Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy is a fine use of your time. It’s a well-crafted, nicely polished game that is simply fun to play — and sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a hard day.

Regardless of how the development process actually went, the two games are eminently worth playing — and I was pleased to rediscover that Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy doesn’t completely replace Waifu Uncovered, either. Waifu Uncovered presents a more straightforward, arcade-style experience that you just sit down and play, while Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy’s added depth provides a little more meat on the bones as well as some additional polish to the experience as a whole.
