Wife Quest is a fun action platformer with great power ups and intense boss fights, but its obsession with breasts is its undoing.

It took us around 10 hours to complete our first playthrough of Wife Quest, which is not a bad run considering the low entry price. There is a lot of personality and style on display here, and players who want to go for all the trophies in the game will have plenty to come back to. Save for a few small visual hiccups and the fact that the game's humour is often an acquired taste, there isn't really a lot to pick fault with here; it's fun, short, and well-balanced enough to keep it from ever becoming overwhelmingly difficult. While it's not quite in the same league as the likes of Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge, if you're a fan of Metroidvania titles, then Wife Quest is yet another title worth checking out on Switch.

At heart, Wife Quest isn’t doing anything especially new or remarkable — but what it does provide is a really solidly implemented Wonder Boy-style platformer. For those in the mood for that sort of thing, it’s definitely a worthy investment — particularly if you have a thing for angry flat-chested heroines and/or monster girls. Because this game has both of those things in absolute abundance.

Wife Quest‘s cutesy aesthetic and straightforward mechanics belie a competent yet surprisingly difficult platformer. You’ll need to approach this adventure with patience and dexterity (and an appreciation for a bit of ham and lewdness certainly wouldn’t hurt, either). If you’re up to the occasionally unforgiving challenge this platformer offers and don’t mind some fanservice here and there, then this is a quest well worth undertaking.
