With the hindsight that there is now, with spiritual successors to Pyro Studios’ work like Mimimi’s Desperados 3 getting it so right, I hope to heaven that whoever is minding the supposed new entry in Commandos takes heed and avoid the errors that were committed in both the original version Commandos 3 and were further worsened in this HD remaster. Commandos 3: HD Remaster is ultimately a game that has failed to deliver. While it may be authentic to the original Commandos 3 experience, that is really a failure rather than a success. It fails to really improve the game in any way other than its visuals. The gameplay is still as clunky as it always was, and the game still features legacy bugs that have been present in the title since 2003. It is a shame, but Commandos 3: HD Remastered is more of a re-release as opposed to a remaster.

Commandos 3 - HD Remaster retains fantastic levels of difficulty and a wonderful blend of missions. However, it is let down by poor controls and a woeful camera. I believe it'll be better on PC, but as a console gamer, I felt thoroughly letdown.

Just like its original 20 years back, the level of difficulty and their hardcore missions have been well preserved to alert gamers to know their place, into despair. Sadly, the console versions of the game didn’t fully utilize the utility of a gamepad, thus creating a terrible control scheme to navigate through the game, paired with horrible camera controls which makes it a double negative.
