Dicefolk uses and reinvents traditional concepts to create a unique adventure. There is a good variety of chimeras, skills and equipment that, when combined, allow us to develop the most varied strategies. Added to this, we have the change in perspective of turn-based combat, which makes the gameplay much more complex by requiring players to control both teams. I believe that balancing is necessary so that certain combinations are not much stronger than others, but the game is on the right track to please players looking for different turn-based combat.

Dicefolk offers a unique and strategic experience with its dice mechanic and Chimera collection. However, short runs and limited enemy variety might hinder the experience for some. If you enjoy Slay the Spire and Pokemon and appreciate the challenge of roguelikes, Dicefolk might be worth checking out.

With fun turn-based combat, enough strategy development and random elements outside of combat, and a decent primary objective, Dicefolk refines an existing genre to make something both unique and recognizable. Dicefolk isn’t just for genre fans, it’s a very enjoyable game all around, especially if you dig turn-based combat.

Shockingly enough, that was what I liked the most about it, and not the monster collecting elements. Those were there, and worked wonders, but were quite minute at the end of the day.
