Critic Reviews for Dicefolk
Dicefolk has truly amazing combat that makes great use of its rotation and dice mechanics, and it's bolstered by a ton of impressive designs in tthe Chimeras, each packing their own skills that are fun to experiment with as you craft your dream team and playstyle. Unfortunately, the lack of any interesting story hinders the experience and can easily leave you wanting more. Still, as long as you desire a unique spin on the traditional creature-collecting formula and the battles associated with it, Dicefolk can still be worth checking out, even if the odds of you enjoying the game for longer periods may boil down to a dice roll.
Dicefolk is an excellent new addition to the enormous roguelite genre that manages to feel fresh without getting too far away from the core ideas that make these sorts of games so addictive and popular. An attractive art style, strong combat system, and meaningful player choices make this one a brilliant addition to the library for anyone looking for another great roguelite on Switch. Even if you aren’t typically a fan of this genre, we’d suggest you at least consider this as a possible entry point. Dicefolk is approachable without being patronizing and it’s tons of fun once you get a grasp of its various quirks.
Dicefolk is a wonderful Roguelike monster fighting game, with inventive and engaging combat and shed loads of content to dive into.
A polished and highly competent roguelike deck builder with some neat twists, that can sometimes feel a touch too random for its own good.
Dicefolk is an intriguing take on the roguelike that gives you an unprecedented level of control over everything, and still makes you sweat in battle. It's cute, the replayability is very high, and it's got some fun progression unlocks as well. Definitely grab it if you're a turn-based roguelike person.
Dicefolk is a valid alternative in the search for a good roguelike with mechanics linked to dice management that are interesting, but very unbalanced and managed by luck.

Dicefolk is an excellent game that takes full advantage of the Switch. It is challenging but balances that out with giving the player full control over every turn - both their and their opponent's actions. Progression can feel a little skewed towards the luck of what upgrades you get offered run to run; but there is so much you can control to help guide your fate. If the game boiled down to a roll of the die; well, you can even upgrade the faces of that as well.
Despite its pitfalls, Dicefolk was one of the more fun roguelikes I've played. It successfully tantalized me with the idea that this might be the time that I managed to pull a team together, after crushing me again and again.
