Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide Reviews
The Rising Tide is a content-rich expansion, with a well-written story and just the right amount of novelties, from the new location to explore to the Kairos Portal. It fully succeeds in its intention of bringing us back to Valisthea, tying up loose ends and making us dream a little more. A DLC not to be missed by anyone who enjoyed the world of Final Fantasy XVI.

You will even go on a global scoreboard for all the competitive types out there, and to add a little extra spice, if you can achieve S Rank on all stages in Final Fantasy mode, you will unlock a secret stage with a secret boss, so good luck.
The Rising Tide is a fantastic piece of content that builds upon the brilliance of Final Fantasy XVI perfectly. With its engaging storytelling, gorgeous landscapes, thrilling battles, and additional challenge with the Kairos Gate, there’s plenty to get stuck into to ensure it stands out as a worthwhile expansion to the tale of Final Fantasy XVI. And come on… who doesn’t want to use Leviathan’s abilities in combat?
Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide ties up the base game quite nicely, resolving one of the key mysteries of the base game. The face-off with Leviathan is one of the most memorable Eikon battles yet, with a beautiful score and challenging fight. However, The Rising Tide still suffers from the same problems the base game had. It also only provides a few hours of story content, which makes it somewhat of a hard recommendation at its current price point.
The Rising Tide DLC offers great gameplay additions, a masterful Eikon fight, and a decent tie-in story to conclude FF16’s experience.
The Rising Tide serves a fitting end to Final Fantasy XVI, reminding me of the ways this entry rose above the challenge while also tripping in a few spots.
