Critic Reviews for Giana Sisters: Dream Runners

Games like this live or die by their multiplayer community and while it's sad to see no such community thrive for a competitive platforming racing game, maybe this isn't the best game to mourn for. Its dated looks, slippery controls, and occasional bugs don't exactly help, but the lack of originality compared to both Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Speedrunners just highlight the problems with this copy and paste effort. Go play Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams instead of this.

Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is not a good game. There are many missteps in the mechanics and the overall feel of the game. Playing with bots solo is boring and not fun, and even with people to play with either online or locally, you may get an hour's worth of play out of it before looking for something better to play and there are way more games out there that play better than this.

Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is a hot mess to play, contradictory to its run-of-the-mill appearance. Even if you can manage to grasp what's happening and why it's happening long enough to delve into its online multiplayer, then you'll be hard-pressed to find any actual activity to take part in. A mashup with good intentions, the title falls a long way short of its admirable aspirations.

I want to say this title was a good attempt but maybe it should have spent a bit more time on the drawing board.

Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is far too fast, frenetic and convoluted for its own good. Run away from this one before it entices you to spend any money.

Even with AI difficulty set to Easy, prepare to lose more than your fair share of matches, and you'll probably give up playing long before you've put in enough time to become a master of the game

Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is the ideal party game, but falls short of being a must have offering nothing more than a watered down version of a number of genres.

While it's not impossible to glean some enjoyment from Giana Sisters: Dream Runners, it's entirely reliant on meeting a specific set of circumstances to do so.
