Stupid Never Dies Reviews
Stupid Never Dies is a game with mountainous highs and abyssal lows. The game's combat and roguelike mechanics are as perfect as they can be, running through the dungeon to eat and become enemies never failed to satisfy me throughout my entire playthrough. However, those aspects are dragged down by the game's slow pacing issues and the story's treatment of Davy's love interest. While I love the game's tone and the enjoy it while I'm playing it, these aspects drag down what could have otherwise been a perfect experience.
Stupid Never Dies is what happens when a group of industry veterans decides to make a video game adaptation of Warm Bodies in the style of a Suda51 game.
Stupid Never Dies is an aptly named game about a zombie who falls in love with a corpse. Across different dungeons, Davy musters up the punk-rock courage to save the girl he loves by battling an assortment of monsters. The setup is perfect for a roguelike, as Davy’s ability to bite monster cores lets him grow stronger, more vicious, and more capable.
It is precisely in this variety, combined with the fluidity of the confrontations and the constant introduction of new features, that Stupid Never Dies finds its greatest strengths. A must-have experience for fans of hack and slash and roguelike games, especially for those who appreciate action games full of personality, varied abilities, and absurd situations.

Much like its titular undead lead, Stupid Never Dies shows signs of decay in spite of its potential. It's dumb fun distilled in a familiar-yet-funky package; you could do worse.
