Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass - Part 1: Bubbly Basin Reviews
Pokemon Pokopia: Bubbly Basin expands the game's strongest qualities with engaging underwater exploration, meaningful quality of life improvements, and a substantial collection of new content. Its limited story and steep price hold it back, but the new biome adds welcome depth for players invested in the base game.
Pokémon Pokopia’s Coral Basin expansion adds a refreshing underwater dimension to the experience, expanding exploration and building with intuitive mechanics, new Pokémon and plenty of fan service. While the amount of content is somewhat limited, its new possibilities make it a welcome addition for anyone looking to enjoy Pokopia in a different way.

Bubble Blub Backwater is exactly what we expected from the first DLC for Pokémon Pokopia: an excuse to step back into the shoes of Ditto and relive the bittersweet atmosphere of this unique Pokémon adventure.

Pokémon Pokopia: Bubbly Basin is a great excuse to return to the game’s universe. The new underwater region has enough personality to offer an interesting change of pace, there are plenty of new Pokémon, and fans of building will enjoy a wealth of new items and habitats. The free update accompanying its release also greatly improves the game with the ability to dive and several quality-of-life adjustments. However, it’s important to distinguish these free additions from the content actually included in the DLC. Once that distinction is made, Bubblegum is essentially a new region that follows the main game’s formula almost entirely. Despite this, I had a great time during my playthrough and still wanted to keep playing even after completing the main objectives. We’ll just have to wait for the next installments of the expansion pass to see if the package as a whole manages to take things a step further.

Bubbly Basin is a charming, densely packed extension of Pokémon Pokopia that rewards returning players with more room to create. Its biggest limitation is that many of the game’s most meaningful improvements arrive through the free update instead.
Pokémon Pokopia just keeps getting better with the release of Bubbly Basin – the first of three DLC areas that has set an exceptional standard for those yet to be released. There’s lots to explore and more charming narrative content, as well as a strong selection of Pokémon to befriend. If you enjoyed Pokémon Pokopia’s base game, you’d be missing out by passing on Bubbly Basin, and I can’t wait to see what the next area is like.
A large additional town with a free update that allows players to dive underwater and utilise all the space down there as well. Anyone who loves Pokopia’s base game is going to be ecstatic to explore all of the additional content. With just the Bubbly Basin being released, the price point is very expensive; however, a second town is in the pipeline and an update that looks to add accessories to your town residents. I'm feeling very hopeful for the future of this expansion pass.
Bubbly Basin is a delightful new underwater area to dive into in Pokémon Pokopia, which promises hours of salty fun with your favourite water types.
