Isle of Reveries

Critic Reviews for Isle of Reveries
Old-school-inspired top-down adventure that will take you on a pilgrimage to the Isle of Reveries
Continuing the resurgence of modern games capturing that retro feel, Isle of Reveries knows what it wants to be and achieves it. From the stellar pixel art style to the sound effects and music straight up from the 90s, it feels right at home with the contemporaries it so earnestly wants to be a part of. Clever puzzle mechanics from its copy ability and extensive dungeons round up one experience that, thanks to its humorous delivery, lightheartedly reminds one of a classic time with care.
Isle of Reveries truly was an epic adventure that took up the majority of my September, and I wouldn’t have it any other way (even if my very patient editor would). I was completely immersed when I was playing, and the game occupied my brain every hour even when I couldn’t play. This is an easy contender for game of the year.
Isle of Reveries does quite a bit while adhering to the same style as Game Boy Color games like The Legend of Zelda.
Isle Of Reveries offers up some excellent puzzles, fantastic exploration and tools that are just damn fun to use.
