Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition Reviews
Bottomline, if you are a fan of the franchise and you're stuck with no other means of playing this game, go ahead and pick up the PC version and push through the problems and enjoy yourself.
So once again, I can only recommend Dynasty Warriors Xtreme Legends 8 to people who haven't yet bought the original Dynasty Warriors 8 but this creates a weird situation. As I said before, the Dynasty Warriors formula really hasn't changed and at this point really only appeals to die-hard Dynasty Warriors fans. As such, most die-hard fans will have already picked up the original Dynasty Warriors 8. So one has to wonder, who is Xtreme Legends 8 actually marketed for? The best answer that we can come up with is Lu Bu fanatics, and you'd be surprised how many of those actually exist.
Dynasty Warriors 8 made some improvements to the series, which make it play better than its predecessors, but it's still not quite the accessible, mainstream hit of titles like The Last of Us or Bioshock.
Die-hard fans of the franchise will have a lot of content to sink their teeth into. If your on the outside looking in, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends' rather shallow and repetitive gameplay isn't rewarding enough to dive in. It doesn't really do much to push the franchise forward any meaningful way.
An action-packed brawler that's great to play with (local) friends, this port is impaired by inferior visuals, lack of an online multiplayer mode, and other problems.
