Critic Reviews for Blasting Agent: Ultimate Edition

Blasting Agent: Ultimate Edition is like a little trip back in time to when graphics were blocky, gameplay was simple and story was almost non-existent in video games. It's got the look of a retro game, the feel of a retro game, and due to its repetitious nature, some of the shortcomings of the era as well. Without any particularly interesting mechanics or set-pieces to mix things up mid-game, it has to rely on its admittedly solid foundation of run & gun gameplay, which wasn't quite enough to consistently hold our attention throughout. That being said, what's there is still an enjoyable romp in its own right, and well worth checking out for fans of the genre.

Blasting Agent makes sense in its original format and environment but when converting it to the Wii U, the result is too problematic - not just due to its technical issues and unstable framerate but especially due to incoherent level design and the overall feeling that this conversion adds nothing to what already existed.

Playing the game for my Blasting Agent: Ultimate Edition review was a lot of fun. Despite this bein a short game, I enjoyed every minute of it and I’m happy that Ratalaika decided to release it on Nintendo platforms.

A brief couple of minutes' long test is what Blasting Agent takes to convince the player whether or not it's worth playing for much longer than that. It offers some robust and snappy gameplay on the one hand, but, on the other one, it just doesn't seem to perform at its very best on the Nintendo 3DS. In such a competitive scenario - where solid alternatives don't seem to run low - it's hard to recommend to anyone else than those action-shooting maniacs who want them all in their collection.

It is very basic but it is a solid shooter.
