Smugglecraft mixes up old-school racing with questing nicely, but the lack of variety in the gameplay and the sense of familiarity you’ll quickly feel means it won’t take too long before you start getting bored. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination – it just doesn’t really do enough to hook you in. Whilst it certainly has moments where it really shines, it also has moments where you’ll be left thinking “I’ve done this before”. With a bit more polish and variety it could’ve been something special, but as it stands it’s a little hard to recommend Smugglecraft over the better titles that are available right now.

Despite all its issues I honestly enjoyed SmuggleCraft.  The tracks are a bit lonely, the challenge level is fairly low even when a mission says Death Trap and the menus desperately need another round of polish, but the courses are beautiful and fun to fly through in their detailed, low-poly way.

SmuggleCraft is an interesting but flawed release that could use a patch or two to rebalance things. Controls are a bit too floaty and the AI is too aggressive even on missions that the game itself says are Easy and Legal. If illegal activities with a high difficulty rating are packed with other smugglers out to get your cargo, then easy and legal operations should not have the same actual difficulty during gameplay.

SmuggleCraft is an exciting racer that pretty much does everything a good racer should. My one and only complaint I have for this game is that it is slightly repetitive if played too often within a short amount of time. Otherwise, I can easily recommend this game to those looking for good multiplayer fun in a racing experience.

The game is a ton of fun especially if you are a fan of racers. The controls are great and are highly responsive, but you will need to practice for a bit before you get the hang of things due to the highspeed at which you travel. Some of you might get some motion sickness if you're not careful, so be sure to ease yourself into the experience. Smugglecraft has a nice story that is fun and goes well with the game's graphics and gameplay mechanics, making this a solid indie release. The game even features a full trophy list with a Platinum at the end, so I'm sure it will keep you busy for a while!
