Theseus Reviews
Developer Forge Reply has delivered an atmospheric and intense retelling of the classic Ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, one that makes engrossing use of the VR space, but at just 90 minutes in length, unfortunately feels more like a budget-constrained “experience” than the substantial 3-5 hour adventure most were surely hoping for.
Theseus really does have some stunning moments when faced with the minotaur or other things that gives a grand scale unlike any other. Theseus just falls flat in all other areas, camera angles went from great to bad and the combat has no depth and the traversal of the area became old.
Theseus isn’t necessarily a bad game, but it’s far from being an exciting one. It goes a long way in proving that third person adventures can work in virtual reality and it’s definitely got me excited to see what might come in the future, but the simple linear gameplay offered here just didn’t do enough to really engage me. There’s no denying it’s atmospheric and looks great, but unfortunately Theseus is a clear case of style over substance.
Theseus has some interesting ideas, and it manages to create an immersive atmosphere, but it doesn’t flesh out its concepts enough to create a full-fledged VR adventure title. It feels like it has some great ideas but it doesn’t explore them as much as it could have
Theseus is the first “big” PS VR action game where you see the character with a fixed camera. It's interesting to see a game like this instead of a first person view. This gives the game a whole different perspective from the usual VR game. It's simple but it's charming in innovative way. A good game if you like mythological stories with bizarre plot twists.

Theseus is an epic cinematic experience, with action-adventure gameplay mixed with tense stealth sequences. Sadly, the simple controls and basic gameplay don't keep up with the amazing visuals.
All in all, Theseus falls short of what it tries to do, instead being an underwhelming and short VR experience.
